The first American armored personnel carrier M1117 was destroyed in the Northern Military District zone

A few days ago, footage appeared showing American M1117 armored personnel carriers in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were not transferred to Ukraine for a long time, apparently due to the severe wear and tear of the equipment, which required restoration.

As they say, “less than a year has passed”, the destruction of the first vehicle of this type has already been documented. The corresponding footage was posted on social networks. As can be understood from the material, the armored personnel carrier was hit by soldiers of the 60th motorized rifle brigade in the Donetsk direction.

The first M1117 left the chat on the Donetsk front

- says the Serbian resource ZOKA.

The footage shows an armored personnel carrier, probably abandoned by the crew. The Russian operator who discovered the car drone carries out a series of successive drops of FOGs on enemy equipment. As a result of a series of explosions and the resulting fire, the armored personnel carrier was completely destroyed.

Due to large losses in military equipment, the enemy is forced to immediately throw reinforcements arriving in Ukraine into battle. This explains the destruction of the first M1117, which followed just a few days after the appearance of an armored personnel carrier of this type in the army. If earlier the enemy formed reserve brigades, saturating them with Western vehicles in anticipation of the counter-offensive of 2023, now they are “spreading” resources along the front, trying to keep it from collapsing.

Apparently, something will be destroyed for a long time for the first time, if we don’t at least somehow learn to destroy these supplies... And it doesn’t matter how, even if it involves the destruction of civilian infrastructure and civilian transport...

Now I've finally gotten over it. Back in America, he hoped his pension would last, but he was thrown away...

So far this is only trophy scrap metal.
I hope the entire M1117 will be captured soon.

They are disposed of at Russia's expense, however.

Under your message, at the time of my viewing, there are no “pluses”. (by the way, and quoting the message failed, I’m used to quoting what I’m answering, in order to avoid misinterpretation).
But the same nicknames regularly “shine” in the first lines under articles, news... Is it a coincidence? I doubted it for a long time. Where do they have so much time?! ))).I don’t understand their delight, - as you correctly wrote, - everything happens at our expense (“recycling”)... Moreover, - somehow it is not customary to mention this context here, - sometimes, - at the cost of life, the health of our fellow citizens, friends and relatives.
Of course, it’s more pleasant (for many) to watch “Field of Miracles” later (or vice versa, the “Time” program - I don’t remember the broadcast schedule...).
"...Hurray! 5th Abrams!..." Yes, of course, I'm also glad... But! Perhaps, in my opinion, it might be better: ... for clearly identifying a root vegetable they can be banned... (I’m not Solovyov, who is allowed... a lot on the daytime broadcast of the central media.) So, - such my thoughts: maybe it would be better if there weren’t another Abrams, but there wouldn’t be another loss for the Russian Aerospace Forces? (did you figure it out? - what did you lose, from whom?).

The Americans managed to make a hatch even on such a small tower. In our country, a wretched turret with a KPVT machine gun migrated from the BTR-60 to all other vehicles for several decades.
Study the turret and adapt something similar to our “shot” armored personnel carrier

What the hell does an armored personnel carrier even have an inhabited tower. A remote controlled module is quite sufficient. And direct the freed weight to defense

Why does an armored personnel carrier need a turret without a hatch? I refuse to understand such, and even aggressively stubborn, primitivism.

The M1117's turret is one and a half times larger than that of the BTR-80.

Is there any data on the size of the turret ring?

Since their introduction, BTR60/70/80 have been extremely inconvenient transport for soldiers. Very inconvenient. Especially BTR60. I still can’t understand why it was impossible to make a normal door at the back, and place the internal combustion engine immediately behind the driver on the side? It feels like our armored personnel carriers were designed by the same sadomasochists who designed the Gaz-66 with its very convenient gearshift lever.

Why all the fuss?! Why is the fact of his fawn surprising? An ordinary event occurred - a NATO cart was burned, not the first and not the last. Our guys didn’t go for a walk, they said death to the Nazis means no matter what they ride, even elephants, although it would be a pity for an elephant...
