Head of the SPD faction in the Bundestag: German Chancellor Scholz was able to prevent a nuclear strike on Ukraine
The party of German Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said that the head of the German government managed to prevent a nuclear strike on Ukraine. The leader of the SPD faction in the Bundestag, Rolf Mützenich, called for gratitude to Scholz, since he allegedly contributed to preventing a possible nuclear strike by Russia on Ukraine with his visit to China.
According to the German publication Bild, Mützenich is referring to Scholz’s visit to Beijing in the fall of 2022, after which the German chancellor said that he allegedly asked Chairman Xi, using his influence, to convince the Russian leadership to refrain from using nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Bild cites the words of Carlo Masala, a professor at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich, who claims that, despite the fact that Scholz probably influenced the position of the Chinese leadership to some extent, the German chancellor did not prevent a nuclear war, since there were no prerequisites indicating Russia's inevitable nuclear strikes on Ukraine. Moreover, the Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that they are not going to give an order for the use of nuclear weapons during the conflict in Ukraine.
Columnist for the German publication Philip Pyatov recalls that the American press previously wrote that in the fall of 2022, Washington feared a possible Russian nuclear strike on Ukraine. At the same time, allegedly the American authorities, through the mediation of Beijing, convinced Moscow to abandon this step. At the same time, it is reported that Scholz's role was limited to a trip to Beijing, during which the German Chancellor conveyed Washington's message to Chairman Xi.
