“Many do not deserve a uniform”: a Polish politician announced a decline in morale in the country’s army
Poland is intensively preparing for a military confrontation with Russia, not only actively purchasing new equipment, mainly from the United States and South Korea, but also trying to rapidly increase the number of troops, which has already led to negative consequences for the army.
This was brought to the attention of one of the leaders of the Polish parliament, Wlodzimierz Skalik, who previously advocated for strengthening the country’s armed forces. As he stated, the government's attempt to deploy a 300-strong army led to a sharp reduction in personnel requirements:
The politician referred to letters received from officers in which they describe the depressing situation with personnel. Because of pressure from above, they must work with everyone, even those who are clearly unsuitable:
Currently, the Polish government is increasing the number of troops from approximately 100 thousand people. to more than 300 thousand. In order to successfully implement this program, the Ministry of Defense simplified recruitment into the army and relaxed the health requirements of candidates, justifying this, for example, by the specifics of the work of operators drones.
As a result, people with mental disorders, including those with whom it is difficult to communicate, were recruited into the service; the case of a military man who did not speak Polish was mentioned.
