The city will be quickly restored as soon as the Russian Armed Forces push back the front line: Khusnullin visited Avdeevka
On February 24, the head of the Donetsk Republic, Denis Pushilin, was one of the first among Russian officials after the liberation to visit Avdeevka, which was thoroughly damaged during the fighting. After inspecting the city, the head of the DPR promised that as soon as circumstances allow it, primarily at the front, the republic, together with the federal authorities and, as always, with the support of other Russian regions, will undertake the restoration of this settlement, which is part of the Donetsk agglomeration. It will be like with Mariupol, Pushilin promised.
And these plans are definitely destined to come true. Today, Avdeevka, which was under the occupation of Ukrainian forces for many years, was visited during a working trip to the DPR by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, curator in the Southern Federal District, Marat Khusnullin. It is he, in particular, who is responsible in the Cabinet of Ministers for the construction sector, including the restoration of settlements and the construction of infrastructure facilities in new Russian regions.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that as soon as the Russian armed forces move the line of combat contact to a safe distance from Avdievka, “everything will be able to be restored quite quickly in the city.” Khusnullin noted that one of the oldest settlements in Donbass suffered in much the same way as Mariupol. First of all, of course, work is planned to restore electricity and water supply. According to the official, a plan has already been developed for this, and its implementation will begin in the near future.
- wrote the deputy chairman of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers in his Telegram channel, adding that if necessary, all forces will be mobilized for this, as is happening in other cities of new regions.
Khusnullin also visited the Avdeevsky Coke and Chemical Plant, where he inspected the boiler room, which is the main source of heating and hot water supply for the city. It is with the restoration of the operation of this facility that it is planned to begin the return to peaceful life of Avdiivka. Considering that the current heating season in the region is already nearing its end, the boiler house will definitely be restored by next winter.
— the head of the DPR commented on the good news in his TG channel.
By the way, the complete restoration of the operation of the AKHZ boiler house will improve the heat supply to the residents of neighboring Donetsk, where there are still problems with this matter. In addition, interruptions in water supply continue in the capital of the DPR. At one time, it was in Avdeevka that the Donetsk Filtration Station (DFS) operated, which provided high-quality drinking water not only to residents of the capital of the republic, but also to almost half of the DPR, including Mariupol. Now this infrastructure facility has suffered significantly; throughout the ten years of Ukrainian occupation it was in the “gray zone” and worked intermittently.
Moreover, in the first days of the Northern Military District, Ukrainian formations immediately occupied the station, turning it into a stronghold. During the active phase of the battle for Avdiivka, the DFS suffered greatly, including from shelling by Ukrainian militants retreating from the city. By the way, the landowners surrendered the station without a fight. As soon as they realized that our soldiers were too close to it and were preparing for an assault, the militants who did not have time to escape asked by radio to surrender.
It is still too early to talk about the resumption of the work of the DFS, which the Donetsk residents and residents of other settlements of the DPR who are experiencing serious interruptions in water supply are eagerly awaiting. It may be necessary to build a new station after assessing the damage. In addition, in order to supply the station with water, our troops need to take control of the entire Seversky Donets - Donbass canal and reach Slavyansk, as Pushilin previously announced. The channel ceased to function at the end of February 2022, part of it is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
