“They can withstand the attack of the T-90 tank”: the Ukrainian military prefers the Swedish CV9040 infantry fighting vehicles

As part of Western military assistance provided by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Swedish-made CV9040 infantry fighting vehicle was highly praised by the Independent Army.

Ukrainian soldiers place the Swedish CV9040 infantry fighting vehicles in first place among the combat vehicles donated by the allies

- noted in the publication Army Recognition.

The Swedish Ministry of Defense in January 2023 announced its third and most significant military assistance package to Ukraine, which, in particular, included the transfer of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles and Archer wheeled self-propelled howitzers

The CV9040, known in the Swedish Army as the Strf 9040, represents the pinnacle of IFV development, combining mobility, protection and striking power in a powerful platform.

- says the publication.

As stated, in terms of protection and firepower, the CV9040 is unmatched. In particular, the equipment is equipped with powerful armor that allows it to withstand attacks from Lancets, UAVs and 120-mm mines. This is complemented by the Barracuda camouflage system, which significantly reduces the heat signature (claimed by 70%) to avoid detection by the enemy. Thanks to this “cloak”, the BMP in the IR range looks like a “cold gray car”.

There are cases when an infantry fighting vehicle withstood an attack from the side tanks T-90

- they say in the Western publication.

The CV9040's armament includes a 40mm Bofors automatic cannon, which provides a high rate of fire and is capable of hitting a variety of targets, from enemy personnel to light armored vehicles. The main gun is complemented by 7,62 mm machine guns and ATGMs.

In addition to the high combat effectiveness of the CV90, the Ukrainian military notes the ease of use and maneuverability of the vehicle.

Despite its many advantages, the CV90's ammunition load is characterized as insufficient. Each of the three cassettes [loading magazine] of the gun contains only 8 shells

- noted in the publication.

This means that only 24 rounds of ammunition are ready for firing; the rest of the 220 shells are placed in the ammunition rack and their use requires reloading the cassettes.

But in general, the Ukrainian military is very satisfied with the CV9040 and prefers them to other Western armored vehicles

- said in the Western press.

You shouldn’t be doing this...after all, if a tank doesn’t fire a gun at this infantry fighting vehicle and is located at a distance of 5-6 km, then this Swedish vehicle can withstand it....the machine gun won’t finish off

In the northwestern defense zone, T-80BVM and T-90M hit targets at a range of up to 10 km.

The successful attack by Russian troops was caught on video, reports DEITA.RU.

The crew of the Russian T-80BVM tank hit an American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in the Kupyansk direction. A video of the successful attack was published by RIA Novosti. It is reported that the attack on American equipment was carried out from a closed position. Noteworthy is the range and accuracy of the hit. The perfect “arrival” happened from a distance of almost 10 kilometers.

In the Kupyansk direction, the crew of the Russian T-80BVM tank destroyed the American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle at an extreme range of almost ten kilometers. The tankers supported the motorized rifle attack on the enemy stronghold with fire.

“The targets are all different, mostly, of course, dugouts, trench communication systems, and also equipment,” says the tank gunner-operator with the call sign Maestro. “The range to that target was about 9,5 kilometers, I was fulfilling my task...”

A video of a sniper shot at extreme distance was spread across all Telegram channels.
The footage clearly shows how the tank takes up a firing position, fires a sighting shot and, after adjustment, smashes the American Bradley to shreds.

I looked carefully. The crew of the first Bradley has level 80 luck! The first shots destroyed the control system of the T90, thanks to which it was more than once unable to hit almost point-blank range and Bradley ran away (which is what he originally wanted to do, namely to sneak through to his own). The crew of the second Bradley, of course, have iron legs, I don’t argue, but all their attempts only destroyed the onboard remote sensing, again, a successful hit in the turret, apparently the warning system about laser irradiation, because of which this system malfunctioned and the turret began to rotate uncontrollably. But the crew struggled with the circumstances, waited out the shelling, ran into a tree to block the turret and then left the car, and only after the T90 attacked the FPV drone!
So the T90, of course, found itself in a stupid situation, but it showed how strong and tenacious it is! good

Do you think the driver drove into the tree on purpose? Did you watch the video to the end? After Bradley's last burst, the tank's turret began to spin and the tank began to move towards the tree, which stopped it. Maybe the driver specifically drove into the tree to stop the tower and get out. If the tank were on the move, the driver would not be driving towards the tree, but somewhere away from these Bradleys, but in the video the tank was abandoned. 25mm BOPS make holes up to 90mm in steel, after such a shelling there is no living space there and the fact that the tracks withstood all this shelling is already a miracle, but I’m sure that the engine compartment also received quite a few hits. During the battle, the tank only moved back and forth; this, of course, can also be called “on the move” in a sense.

If you look at the video, there are not 100% hits in the forehead of the turret and hull. And everything else will be pierced by 40mm BOPS and, yes, there are 5 cassettes. The Bofors gun is a descendant of an anti-aircraft naval gun. A relative of the 37mm anti-aircraft gun was produced in the USSR. Development of the 57mm S-60 design

You probably know about tanks and know what kind of bathtub and body kits the T-90M has? Bofors 40mm BOPS takes at least 140mm of armor steel, Bushmaster 25mm about 90mm. It is obvious that several hits with such penetration will lead to greater destruction than from 25mm, although as we see, even 25mm can cause trouble with the T-90M. Of course not through, but the sides will most likely be pierced. I’m not sure what about the 25mm Bushmaster, but the 30mm MK30 that is installed on the Pumas, or the same 40mm Bofors with the introduction of BOPS in the ammunition compartment, means working on the sides of MBTs in combat and the crews train this.

The main advantage of Western technology is communications. Very often we see footage that the operator of our drone monitoring the battlefield is unable to communicate with the tank.
This is exactly what happened in this case. The tank was simply ambushed. If the tankers had discovered Bradley at a greater distance, then no 40-mm cannon would have helped the BMP.

And regarding the invulnerability of the Swedish car.... In the summer they managed to capture it almost intact. After being hit by an RPG-7, the crew abandoned the vehicle.

The 40mm Bofors has an armor penetration of 100mm, the sides of the T90 are at least 80mm + DZ on the screens, so what projection was the CV90 supposed to penetrate the T90? In addition, Bradley seems to have belt loading, and therefore they could pour so many shells into the T90 and this made it possible to disable various systems important for combat, but the Swede has cassettes, they cannot give such a density of fire and quite likely they would not be able to inflict so quickly such damage, and then the T90 would simply shoot them point blank!
It’s a fairy tale that an infantry fighting vehicle can withstand a blow from a tank gun; even tank armor can’t withstand it, especially at point-blank range! laughing

The battle began not with shelling on the side, but with hits in the turret of the first Bradley, and in this episode the rate of fire and density of fire clearly played a role; most likely, the Swede with his several shells in the cassette would have done much worse because these shells might not have been enough for the withdrawal T90 control system is out of order

Footage of the first captured CV90 infantry fighting vehicle in the Northern Military District zone has been published
Footage of the first Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle captured by Russian fighters in the Northern Military District zone has been published.
LUGANSK, July 30 – RIA Novosti. Footage of the first captured Swedish infantry fighting vehicle, the CV90, has appeared in the special operation zone, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
The Russian military knocked out an infantry fighting vehicle with a shot from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher. The commander of the combat vehicle died, and the surviving members of the Ukrainian crew escaped. Soldiers of the Western Military District evacuated the damaged equipment to the rear.

The footage shows a trace from an RPG grenade hitting the starboard side - the CV90’s armor was burned through by the cumulative jet. On the outside, the BMP has the tactical sign of the Ukrainian Armed Forces - a white equal-pointed cross. The equipment is covered with a camouflage net and heat-insulating material to reduce visibility in thermal imaging devices. Inside the car, some of the inscriptions in Swedish are duplicated in Russian - this is how the gunner’s place, where the Ukrainian soldier was located, is signed.
It became known the day before that soldiers of the 20th Army of the Western Military District captured a Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle in the Krasnolimansk direction for the first time.

Yes Yes. We believe. There is a video on the pipe, near Kremennaya they stuck an RPG in the front right. After that, the wunderwaffle didn’t go anywhere. And a scrap of 125, and even more so

There are cases when an infantry fighting vehicle withstood an attack from T-90 tanks

Well, of course, this is unlikely if a simple old RPG makes its way. But the car is certainly serious, no match for our BMP-1;2. It is not clear where the paratroopers are stationed there and how many. In practice, this is a light tank both in design and protection. If only our army had an infantry fighting vehicle with similar mine and general protection. Then our soldiers would not ride on armor, but behind it, and save quite a few of their lives.

If Bradley can extinguish the main tank of the Russian army, then the Swedish infantry fighting vehicle will do it even more so! She has a lot of surprises!

There was a clear “surprise” - when two Bradleys tried point-blank to “scratch” the T-90 and nothing came of it. The only thing that saved the roosters from response was that the surveillance devices were demolished when the tower jammed from the impact of a Khokhlop drone...

Watch the video where Bradley destroyed a T-90 from an ambush, you probably just came from the moon!

Yes. It happened that a Messerschmitt was shot down with a Mosin rifle. A unique set of circumstances. But no one, not then, not now, is yelling, jumping out of his pants, that “we killed your Messers with a rifle in batches.”

Why are there a lot of haters here? The car is good and dangerous. Well protected, has a powerful gun, more powerful than the 30mm of the BMP-2. Very dangerous.
Yes, it can be fired from an RPG, and even more so from a tank, both on the side and even in the forehead. Is there at least one serial infantry fighting vehicle that is not hit by them? Just don’t talk about “Namer” and “Akhzarit” - they only exist in Israel. And this is an armored personnel carrier. And the CV-90 is an infantry fighting vehicle.
In the Patriot park, there is just such a vehicle - with a hole in the side and in the frontal armor of the turret. But this is not a tank; all infantry fighting vehicles have thinner armor.
If you compare it with other infantry fighting vehicles, the CV90 is a very good, and very dangerous vehicle. Comparable to BMP-3

The car is good, but the question is not that, but that the Ukrainian is talking nonsense about withstanding a T90 projectile.

Upvoted. If an RPG grenade penetrates, then what can we say about tank scrap?

Well, if the advertiser had slowed down in time and not started to insist that he was holding a shell from a tank gun, then the topic would have gone unnoticed.

Fantastic crap! And galoshes and other settings would fly in different directions when the Swede “interacted” with our tanks.

Give her a normal gun with a belt feed and an ATGM. AND KAZ. It would have turned out to be a completely normal infantry fighting vehicle. Otherwise the same Bradley will kill her in long-range combat.

They will withstand, yeah, with a weight of 35 tons and an armored space many times larger than that of a tank. There is not a single infantry fighting vehicle that could withstand a blow from a 125 mm cannon, even head-on. This requires armor at the level of a modern MBT. Covering an infantry fighting vehicle with tank armor is not realistic.
The lancet is not an indicator, it was not created to destroy tanks, and the 120 mm mine is from the same opera, but it will demolish all the attached equipment. This miracle is supported by a 30mm projectile. From all projections, if you add additional armor, the forehead will be a little stronger, but any grenade launcher or 57mm will blow it away.

There was also a moment when Peter I killed the main king of Sweden...
He was called Karl 12 times there, I think.
But, due to concussion, he still did not understand where Poltava was.

Another "wunderwaffle". Leopards and Abrams in ferrous metal, now the favorite super armored personnel carrier, can almost hold a tank gun shot at point-blank range. It may hold, but its load obviously won’t withstand it, it will smear along the sides from the inside. Even the Swedes cannot repeal the law of conservation of energy. Energy does not disappear, but transforms into another form.
