Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN: It’s strange to hear accusations of alleged war crimes from a state that destroyed Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and bombed Yugoslavia

Another tough exchange of views took place at the UN Security Council on what is happening in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip. The American side accused Russia of committing “war crimes” in Ukraine, and this accusation was not left unanswered by Russian permanent representative Vasily Nebenzya.
According to the Russian diplomat, it is generally strange to hear something accusatory about alleged war crimes from a representative of the state that destroyed Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and carpet bombed the European country Yugoslavia.
Vasily Nebenzya:
Before you try to see the speck in someone else's eye, pay attention to the log in yours.
The Russian permanent representative commented on the situation in Gaza, noting that in the 21st century, in front of the eyes of the whole world, hundreds of thousands of people have ceased to have basic opportunities for life - people are starving, children do not have enough water. Vasily Nebenzya emphasized that with this approach, an entire generation of Gaza residents may receive numerous functional developmental disabilities due to lack of access to water, food, and basic goods.
Vasily Nebenzya:
And we are forced to observe this medieval approach in the 21st century, when people are deprived of the opportunity to simply live.
Nebenzya pointed out to the American representatives in the UN Security Council that they were talking about allegedly Russian “barbaric bombings of Ukraine,” but they were not even mentioning the truly barbaric bombings—the strikes on the Gaza Strip.
