The Russian Armed Forces destroyed an American Abrams tank for the first time in the Northern Military District zone

After German fires burned en masse during the failed Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Northern Military District zone Tanks “Leopard”, many of our compatriots had a question: when will the famous American M1A1 Abrams join the German “cats”? In addition, Russian actor Ivan Okhlobystin even promised 10 million rubles to the fighters who would destroy the “miracle machine” from the United States.

Let us recall that Kyiv received the above-mentioned tanks from Washington back in September last year. At the same time, not a single American MBT was destroyed by our military. Up to this day.

According to Russian military officers, the first M1A1 Abrams was burned by soldiers of the 15th Brigade in Berdychi, northwest of liberated Avdeevka.

It is worth noting that I was at VO literally today published material that mentioned an American tank driving alone through the streets of the above-mentioned settlement, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces decided to set up the next line of defense.

The car was reportedly tracked down by Zala operators. Then the M1A1 Abrams was hit drone-kamikaze, and in pursuit the soldiers of the 15th brigade finished him off with a grenade launcher.

Posts footage of the burning Abrams TG channel "SOLOVIOV".

It is worth adding that the first American tank was destroyed only almost five months after its arrival in Ukraine, not because it was so invulnerable. It’s just that before this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at the urgent request of their American partners, did not throw the MBTs of the US Armed Forces into battle, but used them mainly as artillery.

Not surprising. The Americans removed its protection. Photo of the destroyed Abrams at the link below.

A photo of the first destroyed American M1 Abrams tank has appeared.

According to the Military Chronicle, the feat was accomplished by units of the 15th Motorized Rifle Brigade from Samara.

According to analysts, the movement of the tank was previously noticed in the village of Berdychi, 1,5 kilometers from Russian positions. After this, the servicemen of the RF Armed Forces worked on it efficiently.

It is reported that the first American M1A2 Abrams tank near Avdievka was burned by the Black Hussars of the Brave group. Soldiers of the 150th brigade hit the tank with a kamikaze drone and finished it off with a grenade launcher.

They say that there is some kind of secret armor, but the question is whether this secret armor was there or whether the Americans are simply laying out straws in case the Abrams is destroyed, to say that they simply removed some secret uranium armor.

The United States plans to send Kyiv a more advanced model of the M1A2 Abrams main battle tank, instead of the older A1, which is in military storage, three people familiar with the matter said. At the same time, the 31 tanks destined for Ukraine will arrive without the secret armor that makes the new model so deadly, the sources said on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the topic.
... Compared to the older A1, which the military intends to retire in the next few years, the A2 has more sophisticated optics and controls. Externally they are similar, but the A2 has a redesigned commander's combat module with improved optics for targeting and an independent thermal imager that allows it to independently scan targets in all weather and combat conditions. The most radical changes affected the internal structure of the tank, taking into account new technologies. The control mechanisms have been completely digitized - and this primarily concerns the new information system for communication between machines, which ensures continuous and automatic exchange of information. Thanks to new technologies, commanders will be able to quickly track the location of friendly equipment, determine enemy positions and process artillery requests.

But federal policy prohibits the export of Abrams with classified depleted uranium armor packages used by the U.S. military, a fourth source with knowledge said. Therefore, before selling tanks to other countries, the United States removes their armor using a secret “recipe.” Other kits are available for overseas buyers.

Unlike other diesel tanks, the Abrams with its gas turbine engine “eat” JP-8 jet fuel, which is more expensive and difficult to store. The tanks themselves are also more difficult to handle: any mistake by the crew can lead to the engine simply exploding.

These are just two plates in the front part of the tower. Their role in the overall protection of the tank is not significant. Therefore, it is not correct to emphasize that the tank was burned because there is no depleted uranium protection on this tank.

armor packages consist of plates of depleted uranium (or uranium ceramics/cermets/) separated by an air gap or a layer of shock-absorbing material. When a CM jet passes through materials with different densities, the speed of its movement changes, which is why it begins to fragment, that is, when it hits the next obstacle, it is no longer a monolithic jet, but broken, so to speak, into separate drops, each of which has already significantly lower armor-piercing capabilities. If the layers of armored elements are not rigidly fixed to each other, then each “drop” of the CM jet moves them slightly to the side and the next “drop” hits an almost undamaged area of the armored element, and it has to expend energy to penetrate it, and this happens with all the “drops” that follow it.

Thanks to all these tricks, the frontal armor of the M1A2 SEP turret (3rd generation uranium armor) has an equivalent resistance to OBPS of 960 mm, and to cumulative projectiles - up to 1600.

In Ukraine, the main enemy of a tank is anti-tank mines and ATGMs, and as soon as the tank is immobilized, artillery is used to finish it off. Additional armor in the tower, even if it had been there, would not have helped him survive in this case

This is tower defense. But the board is not very protected. The bulwark is punctured by fragments. The side armor itself has a thickness of 30 to 50 mm.
There was a case when friendly fire from a Bradley (25mm cannon) hit the cooling grilles (stern). The tank is out of order

I see that fashionable food niches are also... ambiguous. Even if they fully fulfill their function and save the crew from the detonation of the ammunition (which is not a fact), then after it burns out there is little left of the tank. And the armor there is absolutely ridiculous and can be penetrated almost with a machine gun.

They write that the ejection panels worked and that, of course, is cool. However, I’m wildly curious: after such fireworks, is there at least something left for restoration, except for tracks and rollers? Because the aft niche is blazing directly above the engine, and the wall separating the crew from the ammunition is two centimeters thick, despite the fact that the combustion temperature of the gunpowder is from 2100 to 3800 degrees. Any steel will melt like wax in a minute.

In order to “comb” all of Ukraine, you need to spend several million (as in the Second World War for the same lands - 7 million), and destroy all cities like Artemovsk to zero. The destruction of the M1A2 tank in Avdeevka is more of a mental and psychological nature than a military-applied one, as well as informational. The tank is like a tank, given the configuration that lacks many elements, such as dynamic protection and additional armor panels based on depleted uranium, electronic positioning equipment and other equipment. And so, in principle, domestic soldiers have long dreamed of destroying an American tank in the steppes of Donbass. Dreams Come True !!! good drinks But nevertheless, the enemy must be respected no matter who and how they feel about it!

A person who is not in the know may think that they were destroying and destroying for two whole years and finally destroyed. In terms of the destruction of another unit of NATO armored vehicles, this is a familiar event. But imagine how the “supernation” and Bandera’s new sect of followers of “St. Abrams” are burning worse than the Abrams itself is burning, your soul just rejoices.
