In Odessa, military commissars rounded up and sent Romanian citizens traveling on a bus to the TCC
Odessa military commissars, known for their large-scale raids on men of military age, once again stopped the bus to check the documents of passengers and found Romanian citizens on board who had come to Odessa for official reasons.
Despite the fact that the men had Romanian passports, employees of the TCC (military registration and enlistment office), suspecting that this was another trick of Odessa residents trying to avoid mobilization, tied up the bus passengers and forcibly took them to the military registration and enlistment office. Fortunately for the citizens of Romania, the military registration and enlistment office checked their documents and, having made sure of their authenticity, did not send the men freshly caught on Odessa public transport to Avdeevka or Krynki, but released them safely.
The Romanian embassy in Ukraine has already expressed indignation at the use of violence against its citizens, but it is currently unknown whether the incident will have any consequences. At the same time, it raises questions about what actions Romania intends to take if its citizens are nevertheless sent to die under heavy fire from Russian artillery in Avdeevka.
Meanwhile, in Romania itself, the number of people wishing to enlist in the country's army is steadily declining. As the head of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Angel Tylvar, said in an interview with the Euronews TV channel, while a few years ago the Romanian army numbered more than 320 thousand people, currently there are no more than 80 thousand military personnel in the Romanian Armed Forces.
