Serbian press: Croatia will modernize a batch of Kuwaiti M-84AV tanks for subsequent transfer to Ukraine
Interesting information appeared in the Serbian press; according to the publication of TV Front, Kuwait is preparing to transfer a large shipment to Ukraine tanks M-84AV from having its own army. We are talking about a licensed version of the Soviet T-72 tank, produced in Yugoslavia.
According to the publication, the Kuwaiti authorities plan to transfer more than a hundred M-84AV tanks to Croatia, which will modernize them, and only then transport them to Ukraine. The plant where the equipment will be modernized has already been determined - this is an enterprise that is part of the Đuro Đaković (Djuro Djaković) holding, which during Yugoslav times produced licensed copies of Soviet tanks. By the way, the transfer of tanks to Croatia has already begun, the first six M-84AVs have already been delivered to the country, trailers with tanks were spotted on January 25 in Barje in Slovenia, moving towards Croatia.
Details of the modernization of the Yugoslav version of the T-72 for Ukraine, as well as the delivery time of the tanks, have not been reported. Presumably, for the fulfillment of this contract, Croatia may receive 25 former Swiss Leopard 2A4 tanks, removed from the storage of the German concern Rheinmetall and allowed for transfer to countries not participating in hostilities.
Meanwhile, as the blog bmpd reports with reference to the Serbian publication, Croatia transferred two An-32B transport aircraft to Ukraine; they have already been transferred to one of the Ukrainian airfields in its western part. It is reported that Croatia acquired these aircraft in 1995, and in 2014 they removed them from service and sent them to storage.
