British press: Ukrainian men have to pay to escape the country and avoid being mobilized
15
The total mobilization announced by the Ukrainian authorities is forcing Ukrainian citizens to flee the country, but attempts to avoid joining the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are very expensive, The Times writes.
Ukrainian men who do not want to fight against the Russian army have to pay from 3 to 5 thousand dollars to leave the country and avoid mobilization. This money is spent on bribery, producing false documents, or on the services of guides who can transfer people across the border into the territory of neighboring states.
Those who prefer to leave Ukraine through forests or the Tisa River are looking for guides, (...) who usually ask from 3,5 to 5 thousand dollars
- writes the British edition.
Since the beginning of mobilization, the scope of provision of services related to escape from Ukraine has grown significantly. Many resources openly offer the production of false documents. This service costs from 700 to 1,3 thousand dollars. However, no one guarantees that you will not be detained at the border. According to the Border Service of Ukraine, at first the SVO detained more than 17 thousand Ukrainian citizens who illegally tried to cross the border, but this did not stop the rest. As the publication notes, these numbers will soon increase, since there are fewer and fewer people willing to go to the front in Ukraine, and Kyiv needs half a million mobilized.
