The German company received another contract to supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition, but in 2025
The problem of shortage of ammunition for artillery systems is especially acute for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. But Western countries no longer have the capabilities to continuously supply the Ukrainian army with shells in unlimited quantities.
The German Armed Forces have placed a new order for the production of 155 mm artillery ammunition. The company Rheinmetall, one of the giants of the German military industry, will do this, as reported on the company’s official website.
In accordance with the new agreement, the company must supply tens of thousands of artillery ammunition to the Ukrainian army. The exact number of shells ordered is not indicated on the company’s website. There is no information on the cost of the contract, but it is indicated that it will be more than 100 million euros.
There is one more noteworthy nuance - the delivery of new artillery shells for Ukrainian formations is planned for 2025, the month is again not specified. Now 2023 is not over yet. That is, they will begin delivering shells in more than a year, and if everything goes according to plan, there will be no disruptions to the production schedule.
Plans to supply ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2025 mean that German authorities accept the possibility that the conflict will drag on for more than a year. In addition, the contract specifies that the shells will be supplied not only to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but also to the Bundeswehr. That is, exactly how much ammunition will be transferred to the Ukrainian military is also unclear. It is possible that there will be no supplies at all, since it is unclear whether the existing Kiev regime will retain its power in 2025 and when the armed conflict in Ukraine will end.
