The Russian Aerospace Forces launched a strike with hypersonic Kinzhal missiles at a Ukrainian military airfield in the Khmelnitsky region

Ukrainian sources report the arrival of Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missiles at the Ukrainian military airfield of Starokonstantinov, located in the Khmelnitsky region.

According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, the air raid alert was announced after the defeat of a military facility of high importance for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The nature and scale of the destruction is currently not specified. It is also reported that this is not the first attack on a military airfield in Starokonstantinov.

It is known that the Starokonstantinov airfield housed Ukraine’s remaining Su-24M aircraft, which can be used as carriers of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles provided by the West to the militants of the Kiev regime, as well as a number of MiG-29 and Su-27.

Ukrainian resources claim that the hypersonic missile that hit the airfield was launched from a Russian MiG-31K fighter from the territory of the Lipetsk region.

Earlier, with the help of Russian Kinzhal missiles, the American Patriot air defense system, previously considered virtually invulnerable to missile attacks, was destroyed. However, the Russian hypersonic missile demonstrated the helplessness of Western air defenses against such weapons.

The Russian Armed Forces continue to methodically destroy the military infrastructure used by militants of the Kyiv regime for terrorist attacks on Russian targets.

Please note that systematic attacks on airfields are producing results. The pigs with their cruise missiles have quieted down...

The Storm Shadow Scalp is used less frequently, but more often missiles from the S-200 in the strike version and UAVs are used

Complex S-200: these are 4 single-beam launchers + gearbox + power plants + TZM (transport-charging vehicles) + battery of engine chemists (an oxidizer is used). Such a missile, in its best version, is capable of covering a maximum of 240 km; the warhead is equipped with more than 40000 balls. Banderlog remade an air defense missile for strikes on the ground (but this missile at one time could also carry nuclear weapons, and was intended for strikes against air armadas, but.....its first purpose is the destruction of SR-71 strategic reconnaissance aircraft - they are supersonic, They were also capable of carrying nuclear weapons and were based at the Rota base (Spain).....

I would like to add that I described a STANDARD division with the S-200, it is quite bulky, requires a large number of people, and it is STATIONARY!!!
It is impossible in a short time to collapse it, reposition it, and....expand it accordingly...

And I think that what you said is “strongly supported” by a reduction, or even a complete cessation, of the supply of such missiles and other types of ammunition.
The only strange thing is that they do not run out of planes, and airfields are quickly restored.

In addition to the Zhulyany airport in Kyiv and the Starokonstantinov airbase in the Khmelnitsky region, one “Dagger” also looked into the Zhytomyr region

      All six MiG-31Ks were operational.
They don’t just launch daggers, the targets are definitely bold
According to the Turks, the Daggers struck the Patriot air defense system battery, recently transferred to Germany, and some underground facilities on the Khmelnytsky line in western Ukraine

Msi - for starters, where do we hit - at the hangars, takeoff, or at the parking lot with a group of aircraft? For the first and third targets, Caliber is enough, for the second target you need to hit with missiles that destroy the concrete coating, but certainly not with a Dagger in this case, it is redundant.

An ordinary solid-fuel rocket, but unusual control at hypersonic speed on the passive part of the trajectory. For ease of understanding, we can accept the following classification: ground-to-ground - "Iskander-M", air-to-ground - "Dagger", sea-based-ground - "Zircon".
      1. 0
        14 December 2023 17: 54
the first two are quasi-ballistic, the third is hypersonic (I know that Iskander and Dagger develop more than 5M, but almost all ballistic missiles do this)

          14 December 2023 18: 24
Control on the active part of the trajectory depends on the control unit, and the task of controlling the trajectory on the passive part at hypersonic speed is a task at a completely different level.

            14 December 2023 18: 54
the difference there is that Zircon is not a ballistic missile, but a hypersonic missile cruiser (HCR), it does not have a ballistic trajectory and it takes oxygen from the atmosphere, and does not carry it (oxidizer) with it as in a ballistic missile (even in liquid, but in solid fuel). The key difference between hypersonic missiles (not gliders) is the presence of scramjet engines. the rest fly the old fashioned way on conventional rocket engines, and gliders are no exception.

Ukrainian Su-24s were actively used in the first months of the Northern Military District, they began to be shot down en masse, namely, en masse, their survivability is weak, especially since they used them along the front edge of the front, used them as attack aircraft.
Next, they began to use them as carriers of well-known missiles, but there were also plenty of problems.
The plane is difficult not in piloting, this is a delusion, but in ground technical training and in rather cumbersome on-board equipment, although they have adapted, this does not save them - ours are hitting airfields, and the aircraft themselves, in fact, the crews of the Su-24, this suicide bombers.
