“Capable of hitting F-35 fighters”: Iran presented the Mehran anti-aircraft system

Iran has unveiled a new surface-to-air missile system, Mehran.

This is a turning point in Iran's defense capabilities

- indicated in the Iranian edition of Fars.

Few details are known about the new system. This air defense system is capable of carrying four missiles. Its stated range is 320 km, which represents a significant improvement over the current Bavar-373 system. At the same time, the Bavar-373 is advertised as a more advanced product than the Russian S-300 air defense system.

As noted in the Iranian press, its successor Mehran is capable of providing reliable protection against various air threats.

This system could pose significant problems for Israeli F-35i aircraft in the region

- says the press.

Previously, the backbone of Iran's long-range air defense was the SA-20C, an export version of the Russian S-300PMU2 acquired in 2016. The system, designed to counter aircraft, ballistic and cruise missiles, is expected to be complemented by Mehran.

Iran also has a variety of other SAM systems, including legacy US, Russian and Chinese systems such as the long-range SA-5, medium-range I-HAWK, CSA-1 SA-2 Guideline and short-range SA-15, and the Rapier force cover system.

As a more advanced product than the Russian S-300 air defense system.

S-300 is already yesterday. What about the S-400 and even more so the S-500

In any case, this is a good warning for the annoying West and its puppets. Yes

Question for minus players. I wrote a lie that the S-300 is already yesterday, since it entered service back in 1975 (it will soon be 50 years old), and the Iranians have only now been able to surpass it, and why is there any need to praise the Iranians now? Well, well done, they were able to create their own good rocket. Now let them surpass the S-400, we applaud. I’m even sure that they can, but when this happens is a completely different question.

The S-300, which is a PMU, is still being constantly modernized and, with the exception of the long-range missile, is not much worse than the S-400.

We already know that missiles for the S-300 are being modernized all the time, but this is still an air defense system of the past; besides the S-400, the S-500 has been adopted for service, and what else will our smart heads come up with in 5-10 years?

Not just rockets. The complex itself is being modernized: new element base, new software. In essence, the complexes of 75 and today are earth and sky.

Today's S-300s are far from being as stupid as they were in 1975. They have gone through more than one modernization and have replaced several sets of missiles. But something else is interesting - what kind of brains do the Iranians equip their missiles with? China sells them dual-use electronics? How technologically advanced are the solutions they use?

The road will be overcome by those who walk, and Iran, as I understand it, is not going to stand still. And he has both the desire and resources for this.

Iran has relied on the maximum possible autarky and is successfully mastering technologies that other previously developed countries have lost. Look at their power gas turbines.

For Russia, the S-300 is yesterday. For most countries of the world - a super-weapon, even in older modifications.

I see that the Turks and then the Persians suddenly create air defense systems next to which our S300s were not lying around - if you believe the statements of the same Turks or Persians....

If based on the S-300, I believe that it poses a threat to fifth-generation American aircraft

If we discard the vocabulary of the seller from the eastern bazaar, it doesn’t matter, why not. The country under sanctions does not expect mercy from the pack and is preparing to defend itself by all means. You probably already have some worthy prodigies in your arsenal.

You can say and declare a lot and whatever you want. This applies especially to the Middle East and Turkey; let’s see in practice, and military operations will show a lot of problems. Our air defenses are constantly being modernized both in terms of detection, and in terms of means of destruction, control and interaction. So what about this? To even get close requires experience and serious resources.

Well, just beautiful words for now. It is unlikely that they found an ownerless F-35 and tested their complex in real conditions. Of course, there are now many testing methods, but this is no longer some kind of tank. laughing

This is all a farce, just like with hypersound. There are two options - Russia or China. Well, they themselves will not be able to create it so quickly if much more developed countries could not.

Let me make a cautious guess at the options regarding the Iranian presentation of the Mehran anti-aircraft complex... Option 1: this is a well-thought-out and orchestrated PR campaign against the backdrop of the Middle East conflict, aimed at “challenging” Iran’s potential opponents - Israel + the USA - to feel “healthy” "bzdilovaty" in order to prevent even attempts to carry out an air-missile raid on Iranian territories... Option 2: the Iranians created a fairly effective air defense system "Mehran" - the result of the dedicated work of former Iranian students of the BSTU "Voenmekh" named after D.F. Ustinov. True, I will express cautious doubt that the Mehran complex has surpassed our S-300... Certain superiorities are possible, according to certain parameters. But! Only a COMPLEX of these interrelated parameters can “challenge” the S-300. And about the S400, S-500 - I don’t even imagine any superiorities... This is something from the series of “Chinese hypersounds”, which, so far, does not even “reach” Mach 4,5... Although the PR campaign in the PRC was carried out competently, that even the stars and stripes began to fuss... But so far in the Hypersound club there is only one member - Russia...

so according to you Persians, who invented the concept of university and the graduation outfits are a tribute to their Avicenna Persian scientist, they aren't sophisticated enough to do anything, and they either learned it from you or they are lying? how many sophisticated games like chess exist in the world? none, and chess was invented by Persians. didn't you hear of spy stories from Russian tsar to Persia to steal the knowledge of creating damecces steel?
Persians have always been on the forefront of science and engineering, except for the last 200 year's when they were controlled by the west. Thankfully, they regained their independence and Persian greatness is coming back
BTW, if you are so much superior to Persians, why do you need them to give you gas turbines when the Germans stopped giving it to you? Why do you need to import spare parts for jet engines and other aviation spare parts from Iran, and why are you sending your airliners to Iran for heavy repair? Otherwise, they will be grounded.

in response to those comments that wonder if Iranian made air defense work or not you should ask Americans who lost the most expensive drone in the world global Global Hawk, when it was destroyed by Iranian-made 3rd Khordad air defense, or recent Israeli Hermis and US RQ-9 that were intercepted by the first and only loitering air defense in the world called missile 358
this missile 358 by itself debunk the idea that Persians are exaggerating their capabilities since they didn't even unvaild the missile despite being a revolutionary invention and even the name 358 is given to the missile by NATO when they found 358 of this system in boat being smuggled to Yemen place that this missile scored 27 kill
so when they don't even mention the things they already have it's stupid to acusse them of PR propaganda
in my opinion, the Iranians masterfully muddled the water to let their enemy be overconfident while at the same time being unsure enough to not act stupidly
BTW this missile also shows they are capable of inventing new system as opposed to what you implied that was either they are lying or learned from you how to make them
Iran officially claimed the missile after 5 years when it was shown to Gen. Shoigu, who was interested in it.
