South of Avdeevka, the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Tonenkoye, using LMUR
Today's report from the Russian Ministry of Defense says nothing about the situation in the Avdeevka area, although it is here that one of the most significant battles has been taking place over the past few weeks, at least comparable to the battle and liberation of Artemovsk. As in the case of Bakhmut, Zelensky, contrary to the opinion of Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny, is forcing the transfer of more and more new units to the semi-encircled city, including from other sectors of the front.
However, unlike Artemovsk, which was liberated house by house for several months by fighters of the Wagner PMC, now the Russian command is clearly not planning a frontal assault on Avdeevka. Fighting is taking place on the flanks; at the same time, the task of the Russian Armed Forces is being outlined to take control of the supply routes for the Avdeevka garrison along the route from Orlovka. At the same time, enemy positions in the city and on the approaches are under continuous round-the-clock fire from all weapons.
In particular, footage of an attack on the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern outskirts of Avdeevka in the village of Tonenkoye appeared online. The Russian Aerospace Forces strike took place at night, using a high-precision lightweight multi-purpose air-to-surface guided missile (LMUR), known as Izdeliye 305. Judging by the footage, an industrial warehouse-type building was hit, possibly used for storing ammunition. The consequences of the arrival are not shown; it turns out that the video camera was attached to the rocket itself.
Fighting continues on the eastern approaches to Avdeevka in the area of the former Tsarskaya Okhota recreation center. Here, a fire was struck at a Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold near the Donetsk Ring Road (DKAD) interchange. The Ukrainians are trying to stop the advance of our troops, including by conducting remote mining. The UR-77 “Meteorite” self-propelled mine clearance rocket launcher, or, as the military calls it, “Zmey Gorynych,” copes well with the task of organizing passages in minefields. The Soviet-developed vehicle is capable of making safe passages in combat conditions in anti-personnel and anti-tank minefields about 6 meters wide and up to 90 meters deep.
By the way, military correspondents claim that it was “Serpent Gorynych” who worked for the above-mentioned support officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Which is quite realistic, because as you know, the UR-77 installation was used as an offensive weapon back in the second Chechen war. In the Donbass, the installation was used during the storming of the Donetsk airport.
It seems that the information is confirmed that our forces have, after all, gained a foothold in the village of Stepovoe (Petrovskoye) southwest of Avdeevka. The enemy is still holding out on the western outskirts of the village. etc., but, as they report from the ground, this will not last long. At night, our wounded were evacuated and fresh forces were transferred. Unfortunately, there are also losses, but not comparable to the number of “two hundred” the enemy has.
Now it is important who will “quickly” reach the last road along which the Avdeevka garrison is supplied: our fighters on the southern flank from the villages of Severnoye and Tonenkoye, or their colleagues just from Stepovoye. Judging by the map, their distance to the highway is approximately the same. In any case, the narrowing of the neck continues, at least there is fire control of the route from Orlovka through Lastochkino to Avdeevka. In addition, after completely clearing Stepovoye, the Russian Armed Forces can move to Berdychi.
In a straight line, less than one kilometer remains to Severny after the advance of the Russian Armed Forces. Units of the 53rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this sector continue to snarl, but it’s getting worse: as soon as another support post is opened, the movement stops and our artillery begins to hammer. Fire control over the Semyonovka-Novoselovka road is being tightened, along which the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to send reserves to Berdychi.
There are still no changes on the approaches to the Avdeevka Coke and Chemical Plant (AKHZ). Ours firmly hold the heights of the ash dump, more often called a waste heap, and work to remotely defeat the enemy entrenched in the industrial zone. They hit with everything they can, including Tanks. Fortunately, the distance from our positions to the plant is small.
Again, looking at the map, the territory of AKHZ in area is about a third of the entire Avdiivka. It is obvious that the Ukrainians tried to create a well-fortified line here, the capture of which would mean the collapse of the defense of the entire city. A month after the start of the offensive operation of the Russian Armed Forces in the direction of Avdeevka, there are definitely successes, but there is still a lot of combat work ahead.
