Russian snipers in the Northern Military District zone switched to working in threes

Russian snipers in the Northern Military District zone switched to working in threes, rather than in twos, as before. As a sniper instructor of one of the units explained, the reason for this was a large number of Ukrainian drones.

Ukrainian drones have caused Russian snipers to switch to working in teams of threes; such tactics are increasingly used in the special operation zone. According to the instructor, the task of the third soldier in the group is to observe the sky and provide protection to the working pair of snipers, who should not be distracted from performing the main task. The third fighter also provides engineering support for the group. This decision was made based on the experience of combat operations.

Based on the experience of the SVO, we now actually use threes, partly because the two are target-oriented and, accordingly, are vulnerable from a security point of view in a number of ways. The third team member provides security from small arms fire, monitors the sky, and protects the group from drones

- leads TASS words of a sniper instructor.

Due to the large number of drones, most of the work of snipers is carried out at night. As the snipers themselves say, priority targets are machine gunners, grenade launchers, and enemy commanders.

There are also changes in the work of Ukrainian sniper pairs, also adopted taking into account the experience of combat operations. According to our intelligence, in the Ukrainian Armed Forces snipers work in groups of up to six people, which, in addition to the snipers themselves, includes the driver of the equipment attached to the group, as well as sappers.

It turns out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have better optics on drones, since they can detect disguised snipers?
Sorry, the photo suggested that from above the difference in the colors of the costumes and the terrain is more visible.

Well, let's say it's not too late, but timely because... any change in tactics is developed through practice.
Previously, there were not so many drones hanging out in the sky, but now the monthly consumption of copters is under ten thousand on each side, which makes its own adjustments to the work of sniper groups. hi

Yes, here, most likely, they are talking about a general command among the troops; in the localities they clearly reacted faster. During the first assault, still in the winter, I was faced with the fact that we had not learned to look at the sky, because of our habit we divided the sectors of fire in front of us, and we were not even prepared for drones, so this, I repeat, was in the winter. But our command, although they reacted promptly, the second time a man with an anti-drone gun came with us.

There have never been so many drones in the sky before

The Ukrainians always had a lot of drones, we didn’t have many of them at first, but they simply didn’t give us peace, they could send them in swarms, when we were shaking and taking care of one sent as a humanitarian aid, we were afraid to send it far in case they jammed it.

Sometimes we worked in threes, but for another reason... the company commander + his second number (spotter) + you as a counter-sniper behind them for cover at long-range distances (KSVK) - the plan is reliable..... piiiiii.... like a Swiss watch (c) in a good sense of the word. The question is: is it possible to arm a third fighter with a shotgun, and how can a shotgun (preferably an automatic one) generally show itself in the fight against FPV-type drones, which mainly pose a threat? There is also sporting clay pigeon shooting, how much more difficult is it to shoot down a drone than a saucer? their sizes and speeds are comparable, the drone also buzzes, it can be heard clearly, the plastic body is guaranteed to fly apart from large buckshot, of course this will require steel balls from the shooter, but it’s better than running in all directions in the hope that maybe it won’t hit me...

Yes, a shotgun will not prove itself in any way in the fight against drones, and even more so in the fight against FPV kamikaze drones. This isn't skeet shooting.

Well, apparently he only shot according to his passport on paper. Even in Soviet times (without any modern gadgets, which are a dime a dozen right now), playing with weights of gunpowder (or using, for example, a leopard instead of a falcon, so that there was more room for felt wads), sprinkling large shot with starch, it was quite normal and you could take a goose from 50 meters . and 5,5 laying grapeshot - a wolf, and 9 which is larger - the scree is quite dense and uniform and sharp. (The 9 generally retains quite a lot of energy at 100-110 meters. It is clear that there is a time investment in equipment. But we always equipped the wolf ones ourselves, laying out the buckshot. And the rule is to always have at least 2 cartridges with you.
Z.Y. and 12x76 has not been canceled either good

We even start with 1-2 rolled fractions between 2 alignment plates. They are both heavy and precise. You can always get even slightly killed ones at the price of scrap and scrape them off at the standard price. Why more wads... leopard gunpowder is quite sharp, starch is needed so that pellets or buckshot do not wrinkle, and more wads to soften the initial acceleration. For smaller fractions this is not critical; many people often rolled the fraction themselves

            5 November 2023 18: 54
It was in Soviet times that I heard this nonsense about 100 meters everywhere (along with the stories of fishermen). At one time I even experimented: I reduced the weight of the projectile in favor of gunpowder, used flameless, sprinkled starch, coordinated and other nonsense. For fun, I used tied buckshot, covered with photographic film - do you know what photographic film is, did you catch it or not? And the folder sleeves that crack lengthwise and whose ass comes off due to excess pressure - well, to gain an extra meter of the “long arm” - you’ve seen it, haven’t you? All this is a lie and a provocation, as it turned out in practical application, giving a very insignificant increase.
Therefore, sing songs in swamps about 100 meters from a shotgun - sing in other places. Better yet, buy a good laser rangefinder - it’s very enlightening, and you’ll come to your senses.
But that’s not the point: the flight altitude of one of the popular drones in the Northern Military District is 700-800 meters. Judging by the videos, the operator’s “flight altitude exceeded” sign is constantly on. he strives to climb as high as possible.
So, what are you going to do with your awesomely sharp shotgun that instantly destroys a flea carrier running past and the surrounding crows at such a distance? Is it really possible to send signals to the enemy operator, I’m embarrassed to ask - why?

Indeed, it is interesting to look at a character with a shotgun on a ribbon. Do you really consider yourself the smartest or are you just kidding? In all seriousness, do you assume that no one has figured out until now that there are such shotguns and that you can somehow try to use them against drones? These are the original thoughts you suddenly had in relation to the glorious hands-on people - who, out of desperation, put cannons and mortars on any trucks capable of moving and weld machine-gun and cannon turrets from naval ships to the motor-boat? It's funny.

Is this YOU against the background of your verbal incontinence? I made a remark that when a copter with FOGs flies, it descends very low, so that the release is more accurate, then in a vulnerable area for small arms. You can say something on this topic, do you know to what height it descends? I don’t even know if Google will help here. Actually, it was necessary to respond to this, and not write all this angry text.
As for the working height, here you not only need to use Google, but take into account the nature of the terrain, the time of year, along the greenery from 800 meters you won’t see anything special, but the terrain is different, forest, forest clearings, the private sector, and even those in different conditions, depending from damage. Everything about you is painful - everything is written in Google, but it doesn’t happen like that, somewhere you can work higher, but somewhere you have to go lower

12/76 gives a top scree density of 5-10 meters, i.e. 50 m. limit. Imagine a fighter loading knitted buckshot. And most importantly, there is an extra load that you have to carry on yourself with efficiency close to zero. They will use shotguns, there are video reports, and in some places they are even trained as skeet athletes. As I understand it, the problem is in cartridges with solid shot; ready-made cartridges are only available specifically for rifles for skeet shooting. It’s even better to have cartridges with darts and flechettes, but as I understand it, this separate production needs to be set up.

Remote control, though not of small arms, but of automatic cannons, has been known since World War II; in the B-29, air gunner operators sat separately from the guns and manually aimed the sights, a special machine calculated the aiming angles and aimed the guns using an electric drive.
