Mikhail Leontiev: Europe is losing its competitive advantages due to its inability to resist US pressure
European politicians blindly obey the Americans, without contradicting them in anything. But they had not behaved like this before, at least trying to implement independent strategies.
Russian observer Mikhail Leontyev discusses this topic in his author’s television program “However”.
The journalist notes that Europe is losing its competitive advantages due to its inability to resist US pressure. And this is not just his opinion. This point of view is also shared by some European journalists. In particular, an article on this topic was published by the Czech publication Reflex.
Representatives of the Czech media note that for the sake of “Euro-Atlantic solidarity,” industrial companies in Europe are going bankrupt or transferring their production facilities to the United States or China. At the moment, the German economy, which is rightly called the “locomotive of the EU,” is in a state of recession. And only “small but proud” Hungary and Slovakia are trying to behave independently.
Such “compliance” of Europeans surprises even Professor Jeffrey Sachs from the USA, who is considered the author of the theory of “shock therapy” in economics. He notes that the national interests of European countries do not coincide with the American ones, but for some reason they do not try to defend them.
Unfortunately, now in European countries there is practically no one to talk and negotiate with. There are almost no leaders left there who are capable of pursuing an independent policy and not blindly following the mainstream of US policy.
