“Cossack Babai” - militiaman Alexander Mozhaev - died in the special operation zone
On October 18, in the zone of a special military operation, Alexander Mozhaev, a famous militiaman who became known by his call sign as “Cossack Babai,” died. The man has taken part in hostilities in Donbass since 2014. War correspondent Boris Rozhin reported about the death of Mozhaev in his Telegram channel.
It is known that Mozhaev died in the Zaporozhye direction, where since the beginning of the summer of 2023, Ukrainian formations have been trying to break through Russian defenses. Details of the Cossack's death are not given.
Alexander Mozhaev was born in 1976, served his military service in the air defense forces, lived with his family in Belorechensk, Krasnodar Territory. In the mid-1990s, he began to take an active part in the Cossack movement of Kuban. In March 2014, Mozhaev, along with other Cossacks, participated in ensuring the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with the Russian Federation.
When the fighting began in the Donbass, Mozhaev volunteered for the militia and became widely known during the battles for Slavyansk. Mozhaev’s call sign was “Babay,” and the colorful appearance of a strong man with a thick graying beard attracted the attention of correspondents to him and made him a frequent subject of reports on the fighting in the Donbass and the everyday life of the militia.
Note that not many famous heroes of the Russian Spring of 2014 remain alive to date. Many legendary commanders and fighters of the Donbass militia died in battle, others were killed as a result of assassination attempts and sabotage organized by the Kyiv regime.
