American M1A2 Abrams tank demonstrates its ability to overcome water obstacles

Footage has been published online that captures the moment the American overcame a tank M1A2 Abrams small water obstacle. In the footage you can see an American tank crossing the river, while plunging into the water almost up to its tower.
To overcome water obstacles, American armored vehicles, unlike, for example, Russian BMP-2 or BTR-90, must undergo certain training. In particular, the American M1A2 Abrams tank needs to be equipped with a special kit to overcome small water obstacles, including flaps, rubber seals for the gun embrasure, a pump for pumping water out of the crew compartment, as well as air supply pipes and various sealing covers. In addition, the crew is equipped with life jackets and insulating gas masks for breathing under water in case of flooding.
A set of removable and non-removable equipment installed on the American M1A2 Abrams tank allows you to overcome bodies of water up to 5 meters deep and up to one kilometer wide. These restrictions are due to the fact that at greater depths it is impossible to ensure sufficient pressure from the mass of the tank on the ground of the reservoir, which will inevitably lead to a lack of adhesion of the tracks to the ground, as a result of which the tank will be unable to move forward, and in a strong current the vehicle may even be carried away in a different direction .
