Last fall, Indian Air Force Commander Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhary announced that the new Su-30MKI fighters would be equipped with a new version of the BrahMos missile. If the fighters already in service are armed with a version with a range of 290 kilometers, the new ones will receive an upgraded version capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 450 kilometers.
Today, according to the latest data, the Indian Air Force is armed with 272 Su-30 MKI fighters, of which 50 were supplied by Russia in ready-made form, the remaining 222 were produced at Indian enterprises. As the Indian Ministry of Defense plans, all of them must undergo modernization, as part of which the aircraft will receive various weapons, including foreign ones. In particular, the Indians are adapting Israeli I-Derby-ER missiles to Russian fighters.
