VUNTS of the Navy "Naval Academy": Russian submariners are trained here
The VUNTS of the Navy "Naval Academy" is located in the Sosnovy Bor of the Leningrad Region and is one of the most secret objects in our country. It is here that the submariners who will operate the submarines of the Russian Navy, including the strategic nuclear missile carriers of the Borey and Yasen projects, are trained.
In total, there are two training centers in Russia for training sailors serving on submarines. One of them is located in Obninsk, the second - in Sosnovy Bor. The latter, by the way, did not appear here by chance. It was created on the basis of NITI them. A.P. Aleksandrov, who conducted bench tests of a new nuclear power plant for submarines in 1969.
The film crew of "Military acceptance" visited the territory of the educational institution. Naturally, journalists were not given access to all the premises; many training sections are strictly classified.
Meanwhile, the presenter managed to visit the post of acousticians of the nuclear submarine of the Borey-A project, which is also one of the most secret premises of the VUNC of the Navy.
Tellingly, the definition of an underwater or surface object today is still done “by ear”. At the same time, modern submarines are equipped with the most "advanced" electronics, including spectrum analysis equipment.
However, the final decision today, as before, is made by a person. This is necessary to eliminate potential error from the electronic equipment. In addition, some enemy watercraft are sometimes "disguised" as another object, which leads to false data coming from the hardware.
Another thing is the acoustician, who, as a musician who easily distinguishes "A" from "D" by ear, must determine what exactly creates the vibrations detected by the equipment. For the training of such professionals on the territory of the VUNC of the Navy there is a mallard simulator, which has collected a huge base of sounds - from the “clicking” of shrimp to the engines of container ships.
However, submariners must be able to clearly identify an object not only by sound, but also when using visual means of detection. To do this, the VUNC of the Navy studies almost all the ships and submarines in service with the world's navies, including promising ones.
At the same time, not only the watercraft of a potential enemy, but also allies, as well as neutral countries, are carefully studied so that in the event of a military conflict there is no confusion in identifying the target.
In general, in Sosnovy Bor, Russian submariners undergo a full course of training, from cutting to the engine compartment of nuclear submarines. Importantly, the VUNC of the Navy makes it possible to train in conditions that are as close to real as possible. This, in turn, makes it possible not to use warships in the preparation process, "saving" their resource.
