Oddities and inconsistencies in the case of the attempt on V.I. Lenin
Undoubtedly, one of the most high-profile events of 1918 was the assassination attempt on Vladimir Lenin, organized by the Socialist-Revolutionary underground.
It is worth recalling that on the same day, August 30, the head of the local Cheka, Moses Uritsky, was killed in Petrograd.
Meanwhile, the attempt on the life of the Bolshevik leader in Moscow completely overshadowed the above-mentioned event. Yes, what can I say, discussions about this case are ongoing to this day, because there are too many oddities and inconsistencies in it.
It's worth starting with the perpetrator of the assassination - Fanny Kaplan. It would seem that an avid revolutionary, who prepared her first terrorist attack at the age of 16, is an ideal candidate for committing this crime. Except for one big "but".
The thing is that during the preparation of the terrorist attack mentioned above, an explosive device went off, as a result of which Kaplan partially lost her sight. Then, until the age of 28, the Social Revolutionary spent in exile and prisons, where she became almost completely blind. Her eyesight was only partially restored in the Crimea in 1917.
However, in fact, a half-blind disabled person, hardly suitable for the role of a killer, was instructed to shoot at the Bolshevik leader.
However, that's not all. Two bullets were removed from the body of the leader of the October Revolution, which, according to some sources, could not have been fired from the Kaplan Browning, as they had a different caliber.
Leaves questions and a method of murder. According to official data, the bullets allegedly used by the Social Revolutionary were treated with curare poison (South American arrow poison), which was supposed to instantly kill the leader. However, during interrogation, Kaplan stated that the poison did not work, as it loses its properties when exposed to heat.
It is very doubtful that, choosing such a specific method for the murder, its organizers did not study the properties of this substance.
Finally, the fact that Kaplan was shot already on the third day after the assassination attempt on Lenin is embarrassing. One gets the impression that someone was in a hurry to cover their tracks and eliminate witnesses.
These "someone", according to some experts, could be Yakov Sverdlov and Leon Trotsky - agents of the West who tried to eliminate the leader of communism and take his place. In the future, they would have “curtailed” the program to create a “new world order”. However, this is only a version, since no evidence of the above has been found to this day.
