The only radiation monitoring aircraft WC-135 Constant Phoenix of the US Air Force deployed to Europe
The United States deployed its only radioactive contamination monitoring aircraft to Europe, on June 30 a WC-135 Constant Phoenix landed at the Chania Air Base in Crete. This is reported by the Western press with reference to the data of monitoring resources.
The only aircraft of this type in service with the US Air Force has reappeared in Europe, a year and a half after the last visit in January 2022. Then the Americans transferred the WC-135 Constant Phoenix to the British airbase Mildenhall. It is worth noting that the appearance of this aircraft in Europe is an extremely rare event, mainly this aircraft is located in the area of the Korean Peninsula, where it monitors North Korea, sometimes visiting other regions of the globe.
The Boeing WC-135 Constant Phoenix is a special mission aircraft based on the Boeing C-135 and used by the US Air Force. Designed to collect samples from the atmosphere in order to detect and identify nuclear explosions. Delivered in the mid-60s of the last century and is already considered obsolete.
What is the reason for the current transfer of the aircraft to Crete has not yet been reported, but with a high degree of probability, the reason was Ukraine and Zelensky's statements about a provocation allegedly being prepared by Russia at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian resources, citing a source at Bankovskaya, claim that Zelensky’s office planned a provocation to blow up the ZNPP, which they wanted to use to accuse Russia and demand to send NATO troops to Ukraine, since they don’t “take out” the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their own. However, the Americans intervened in Zelensky’s plans. Former US Vice President Mike Pence, who arrived in Kiev, held talks with Yermak and warned that NATO would not send troops to Ukraine even in the event of a provocation at the ZNPP, as this would lead to an escalation of the conflict.
