The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began the withdrawal from Orekhov of units that suffered heavy losses in Western armored vehicles
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began the withdrawal from the Zaporozhye direction of units that suffered particularly heavy losses both in personnel and in armored vehicles, especially Western ones. This is reported by Ukrainian resources.
According to incoming information, units armed with Tanks Leopard 2 and BMP M2 Bradley, which suffered heavy losses. They are being taken out to the Volyn region, allegedly as part of a planned rotation, where they will guard the border. So it is quite possible that in the near future our soldiers will no longer see German tanks and American infantry fighting vehicles.
Meanwhile, according to a source at Bankova, Zelensky’s office allegedly stated that the military operations in the Zaporozhye and South Donetsk directions are not a counteroffensive, this is just a “probe of defense” before the start of the main phase of the offensive, which will begin in July. It is reported that Zelensky set the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the task of demonstrating the success of the Ukrainian army for the July summit in Vilnius, which will be held on July 11-12. Thus, in Kyiv they want to put the result, as they say, on the table and against the backdrop of "victory" to demand security guarantees from NATO.
Meanwhile, not everything is as rosy as Zelensky and his entourage imagine. According to Western intelligence, the Russian army did not waste time and built a defense in depth, which would be very difficult to crack. It is reported that in total there are three defense echelons with different levels of fortifications that stretch "for many kilometers." The British Ministry of Defense has already said that Russia has managed to create one of the most "extensive systems of military defenses" that the world has ever seen.
Many Western military experts doubt that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to break into the Russian defenses without additional weapons and air cover. The only option is a "meat assault", i.e. flood the defense of the Russian Armed Forces with bodies, hoping that the Russian army will run out of reserves earlier.
