The latest events in the Zaporozhye direction in the special operation zone, related to the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have demonstrated to the whole world the real capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces. This view was expressed by a retired NATO officer, Stavros Atlamazoglou, in an article for Sandboxx.

According to the military expert, the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the high level of training of the Russian army. First of all, since the summer of 2022, one of the strongest defensive lines in the modern stories. According to Atlamazoglou, it includes anti-tank trenches, pillboxes, barriers, artillery positions and minefields. It is very difficult to break through such a line of defense.

In addition, the expert believes, the West underestimated the capabilities and training of the Russian army. The RF Armed Forces turned out to be well prepared for the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which allowed them to immediately begin inflicting painful blows on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russian troops have already managed to disable a large number of military equipment, including Tanks German-made Leopard and American-made M2 ​​Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have air supremacy, which makes the situation for the Ukrainian formations even more difficult. As a result, Ukrainian troops advance in open spaces, subjected to air strikes and constant shelling from Russian artillery.

Already at the initial stages of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, it is clear that Ukraine is dealing with a truly professional Russian army.

Atlamazoglou stressed.

The quantity and high quality of the Russian troops concentrated in the Zaporozhye direction demonstrated that the counteroffensive would not be an easy task for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
