The Ministry of Defense proposed to give the status of a veteran to the military in the subjects adjacent to the regions of the Northern Military District
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation proposed to give the status of a combat veteran to military personnel who are currently serving in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation located in close proximity to areas in which a special military operation is being carried out.
According to the text of the draft of the relevant decree, the status of a combat veteran and a combat invalid will be granted to military personnel participating in the performance of tasks related to repelling an armed invasion, protecting the constitutional rights of citizens, maintaining law and order, measures aimed at stabilizing the situation, guarding and defending important state facilities. in the territories of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation that are directly adjacent to the areas in which a special military operation is being carried out in the territories of Ukraine, the DPR, the LPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
The explanatory note to the draft law also notes that all categories of military personnel, including those discharged to the reserve, those liable for military service, called up to participate in military training, employees of the internal affairs bodies, the troops of the national guard and state security bodies, the RF Ministry of Defense, as well as institutions of the penitentiary system and enforcement agencies.
In addition, the new law also covers military personnel who have received disability due to injuries, contusions, injuries or illnesses. The status of a combat veteran will increase the level of social protection of former military personnel, as they will receive a variety of state benefits, as well as the corresponding monthly payment.
