The President of Russia awarded the writer Zakhar Prilepin the Order of Courage
Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin was awarded the Order of Courage. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the document has already been published on the legal portal.
In addition to Prilepin, the Order of Courage was posthumously awarded to his friend and colleague Alexander Shubin, who on May 6, 2023, on the day of the assassination attempt on the writer, was driving his car. Twenty-seven-year-old Shubin, unfortunately, died.
The President in the decree on awarding noted the courage and dedication of Prilepin and Shubin in the performance of civic duty. Recall that on May 6, 2023, an attempt was made on the life of the writer Zakhar Prilepin in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the assassination attempt, his friend Alexander Shubin died, and Prilepin himself was seriously wounded. Now the writer has already undergone several operations and is undergoing rehabilitation in a medical facility.
The secret services quickly managed to establish that the "strings" of the attempt on Prilepin stretched to Ukraine. The crime was ordered by the Ukrainian military intelligence, and its perpetrator was Alexander Permyakov, a native of Ukraine, who was detained and soon admitted to collaborating with the intelligence service of a foreign state.
Zakhar Prilepin is 47 years old, he is the co-chairman of the political party A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth. In 2016-2018 Prilepin served as deputy commander of a special forces battalion for work with the personnel of the People's Militia of the Donetsk People's Republic with the rank of major. The deceased Alexander Shubin, a friend and ally of Prilepin, has also been a veteran of hostilities in the Donbass since 2014.
