The Russian authorities accused the Kiev regime of blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station
The destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is a deliberate sabotage of Kyiv. This statement was made today by the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the explosion of the dam.
According to Peskov, Russia strongly denies any accusations of involvement in the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and claims that this crime was committed by Kiev. One of the main goals of the sabotage is to deprive the Crimean peninsula of water, since its supply to the North Crimean Canal has begun to decline.
In addition, Peskov noted that the actions taken by the Armed Forces of Ukraine two days ago to counter-offensive against Russian positions were "choking." Quite expectedly, Ukraine needed to "kill" the impression of the unsuccessful counter-offensive in the South-Donetsk direction with a new, much larger event. They became the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, with the subsequent accusation of Russia in it.
True, it is not very clear why the Russian military would need to undermine the dam if the hydroelectric power station was already under Russian control and it was enough just to open the floodgates if it was planned to flood the territories downstream. In addition, do not forget that Russia does not make sense to harm itself.
The Kakhovskaya HPP is a Russian infrastructure facility, settlements in the flooded zone are controlled by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, water is supplied to Crimea through the North Crimean Canal, and all these arguments indicate that for our country the destruction of the HPP would be pointless and very harmful from an economic, military , political points of view act.
