Germany asks China not to recruit former Luftwaffe pilots to train PLA Air Force pilots

Germany has made an unusual request to China, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a conversation with his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu during a meeting at the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore. The request concerned former Luftwaffe pilots.
Germany asks China not to recruit retired German Air Force pilots. According to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Beijing is actively attracting pilots from Western countries, including Germany, using them as instructors to train PLA Air Force pilots. In Berlin, they fear that the former military might reveal "NATO secrets" to the Chinese.
This was what the German minister was talking about with his Chinese counterpart on Saturday in Singapore. According to the German press, Pistorius expressed concern about China's practice of recruiting German pilots to train the Chinese Air Force.
I raised the issue of German Air Force pilots who were apparently recruited to train (Chinese) pilots (...) I made it clear that I expected this practice to stop immediately and told him that he probably wouldn't be very pleased either if i try to do the same
- said the head of the Ministry of Defense of Germany.
According to German media, in recent years, China has recruited several retired German pilots, and this has greatly worried the German intelligence services, which are also afraid of revealing state secrets. The main headache is that the Chinese can learn some NATO secrets and then use them for military purposes. It is known that in addition to the Germans, the Chinese also recruited American and British pilots.
