Details of an attempt to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction appeared
The units of the Ukrainian army carried out reconnaissance in battle in the Zaporozhye direction, having managed to break into the defense of the Russian army, but were driven out and retreated, having suffered losses. The fighting took place in the area of the Vremesky ledge.
As reported, the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began around 12 noon, the positions of the Russian troops were attacked by up to two motorized infantry companies with the support of a dozen and a half armored vehicles, including Tanks T-72. Also in the ranks of the attackers were seen American M113 armored personnel carriers, armored vehicles M1224 MaxxProo and HMMWV M1151A1. In addition to the regular units of the Ukrainian army, Polish mercenaries from the Third Assault Group of the Polish Corps also took part in the attack.
The main battles unfolded in the direction of Novodarovka and Rovnopol, as well as in areas south and southwest of Vremovka and south of Novodarovka. Two hours later, the nationalists advanced about 200 meters, losing up to a dozen militants and two tanks knocked out from ATGMs. By 16 p.m., the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to advance as far as possible up to 400 meters, but this was the end of their success. The Armed Forces of Ukraine had to retreat, leaving up to ten pieces of equipment on the battlefield, both knocked out and abandoned, as well as up to 50 people killed.
It is reported that the fighters of the 5th Combined Arms Red Banner Army of the Air Defense Forces built a competent defense in this area. Thanks to the actions of the Russian military, accurate artillery and mortar fire, the enemy suffered heavy losses and rolled back, but did not stop active hostilities. According to incoming reports, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are making attempts to resume the offensive, ours are covering them with artillery.
It is worth noting that two more offensive attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were made today in the areas of Ugledar and Avdiivka, but they did not achieve any success. It is possible that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is conducting reconnaissance in force, looking for a weak spot in our defense in order to throw all our forces there for a breakthrough.
