US Navy Inspection Board: The financial condition of the US Navy has deteriorated
The general material condition of the American Navy fleet worsened as of fiscal year 2022 - this negative trend began back in 2017. Such data follows from a report prepared by the US Naval Inspection and Survey Board (INSURV).
Thus, according to the report, at the end of fiscal year 2022, approximately 44% of ships were inspected late.
Also, from the document it turned out that INSURV is not able to provide itself with a sufficient number of personnel in order to check each ship every 3 years, as required by the regulations. To do this, he needs to rely on the help of a regional maintenance (TO) and repair point, whose employees would act in this case as inspectors.
– also follows from the report.
It is worth noting that a material condition study was conducted in relation to combat surface ships, submarines and aircraft carriers, while the most serious violations were identified in the command of the US Navy's maritime transportation - on military transport ships (UDC, conventional landing ships).
As of 2022, the Board of Inspection and Inspection has carried out an inspection of the materiel of 80 active American ships and vessels. These include the Virginia-class submarine, the Independence Coastal Warfare class, the Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport, the ship-to-shore connector, also known as the LCAC 100 class (a system proposed by the US Navy as a replacement for the existing amphibious hovercraft), port tugs and the so-called barracks ships.
An interesting conclusion is that now the council is waiting for more funding from the authorities in order to expand its activities to study the material and technical condition of the fleet. After the abolition of the national debt ceiling in the United States, you can finance anything and, it turns out, in any amount. Apparently, the council is well aware of this, and therefore the report arrived on time ...
