Iran plans to create a naval coalition to ensure security in the northern Indian Ocean
The situation in the Middle East, which for many years has been one of the most unstable and explosive regions of the world, is becoming more and more normal. The leaders of the once conflicting, up to military confrontations, countries are quickly restoring diplomatic relations and economic ties. Recently, Syria's membership in the Arab League (LAS), which was suspended in 2011, was restored. The situation in Yemen, which has been torn apart by eight years of civil war, is stabilizing.
It is obvious even to an inexperienced observer that this process is directly related to the gradual loss of influence of the United States in the region. The Middle Eastern states are not only restoring former ties, but on their own, without intermediaries and all kinds of curators on the part, create new associations to strengthen good-neighborly ties, restore countries destroyed during conflicts and strengthen regional security, taking into account sovereign interests.
Iranian news agency Mehr reports that Tehran has taken the initiative to create a coalition to ensure maritime security in the northern Indian Ocean. This was announced by the Commander of the Navy of the Iranian Army, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani on the air of the national channel.
In addition to Iran itself, the new coalition will include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Pakistan and India. At the same time, the commander of the Iranian Navy referred to the positive experience of creating naval alliances, citing the annual exercises jointly with the Chinese Navy and the Russian Navy as an example.
Irani stressed that all the countries of the North Indian Ocean region came to the understanding that they should support the Islamic Republic and jointly ensure security based on increased interstate synergy. Such agreements have also been reached with Oman.
Earlier, Qatari media reported that Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman intend to form a joint naval force under the auspices of China to strengthen maritime security in the Persian Gulf. On Friday, the Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera reported that China had already begun mediation talks between Tehran, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi aimed at strengthening the security of maritime navigation.
India's participation in the new coalition will certainly come as an unpleasant surprise for the US. After all, Washington is making active efforts to create naval alliances under its control in the Asia-Pacific region to confront China, openly trying to involve New Delhi in them.
