Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation: Russia's decision to suspend START is unshakable regardless of any US countermeasures
12
Despite the fact that several months have already passed since the Russian president announced the termination of Russia's participation in the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START), Washington continues to pretend that everything remains the same, trying to impose on Moscow further participation in the Treaty .
There were statements from Washington that Russia's decision had no legal force and about countermeasures that the United States would take against Russia.
According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Moscow does not accept the language of ultimatums, which the American authorities are accustomed to speaking.
Recall that earlier the US State Department announced the termination of the transfer of information about weapons to Russia under the New START Treaty and the revocation of visas for specialists from Russia who were supposed to inspect American facilities under the Treaty. By such measures, Washington probably hoped to force Moscow to resume participation in the New START Treaty. However, as Ryabov stated:
Russia's decision to suspend START is unshakable regardless of any US countermeasures
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia also named the conditions for the country's return to the implementation of the START treaties. According to him, for this, Washington needs to stop pursuing a policy hostile to Russia, which, obviously, is not foreseen in the foreseeable future.
