Chinese envoy: Beijing will not engage in actions aimed at adding fuel to the fire of the Ukrainian conflict

China's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui on Friday criticized an article published by the Wall Street Journal, calling it not only completely contrary to the facts, but also aimed at undermining Sino-Ukrainian relations.
The American edition of the Wall Street Journal previously published an article about the Chinese peace plan for Ukraine, which claims that this plan implies the need to recognize new Russian territories that were previously part of Ukraine. In particular, it said that Li's trip to Europe with Beijing's peace plan was a signal that "US allies in Europe should call for an immediate ceasefire, leaving Russia the territories it occupies."
Responding to the WSJ post, Lee noted:
China maintains an objective and impartial position on the crisis in Ukraine, actively advocating peace and dialogue. China's position on this issue has been widely understood and supported by the international community, including Russia and Ukraine.
At the same time, Lee made it clear that no substantive agreements could be reached. At least for now.
The Chinese envoy stressed that Beijing is not a party directly involved in the crisis and will not engage in actions that add fuel to the fire.
Speaking at a press conference, Li also said that China is ready to once again actively consider sending representatives to relevant countries to promote dialogue to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
