The Minister of Defense of Poland announced the timing of the arrival of the first batch of Abrams tanks in the country

First batch tanks М1А1 Abrams will be delivered to Poland at the end of June 2023. This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak, by posting a corresponding post on the social network.
As the head of the Polish military department noted, the United States is currently beginning to transport the first batch of Abrams tanks to Poland. The number of tanks in the first batch is 14 units. In addition, 3 M88A2 Hercules technical support vehicles will be sent to Poland.
Recall that earlier Poland signed a contract with the United States for the purchase of 250 Abrams tanks of the latest version of the M1A2 SEPv3 for the needs of its ground forces. Then Warsaw decided to buy another 116 used American M1A1 tanks in order to strengthen its mechanized units.
Currently, the tank fleet of the ground forces of Poland is quite diverse. It consists of several groups. Firstly, these are Soviet-type tanks - T-72 (almost all of them were transferred to Ukraine after the start of the special operation) and the Polish modification of the T-72 tank PT-91 Twardy (60 tanks were also transferred to Ukraine). Secondly, these are German Leopard 2 tanks. Thirdly, these are American-made Abrams tanks, which Poland previously rented from the United States for training purposes. Finally, Poland signed a contract to purchase K2 Black Panther tanks from the Republic of Korea.
Now Poland expects to cover the shortage of military vehicles at the expense of American tanks, formed after the transfer of most of the tanks of Soviet and Polish production to Ukraine. Moreover, Warsaw pays a lot of attention to re-equipping its army, dreaming of creating the strongest armed forces in Europe.
