Lithuania is preparing to send another batch of EDM4S Skysweeper anti-drone guns to Ukraine
Lithuania is preparing a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, it will be sent to Kyiv in the near future. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic with reference to the head of the military department Arvydas Anusauskas.
Lithuania promised to supply Ukraine with ammunition, food rations, equipment to counter drones and other materials, which are not reported. It is known that Vilnius sends EDM4S Skysweeper anti-drone guns to Kyiv as equipment for combating drones, the number is not specified.
These guns for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not new, Ukraine twice received them from Lithuania, first it purchased 37 units of the complex, modified for the Ukrainian army, called EDM4S-UA. Then, after the start of the JMD, Lithuania supplied Ukraine with another 110, or so, anti-drone guns of this brand.
The EDM4S complex is a specialized electronic warfare tool designed to disable mainly commercial multi-rotor UAVs. It was built on the basis of a copy of the German G36 rifle. The design used a slightly altered receiver with a standard fire control handle, stock and carrying handle. Inside and outside the box, new radio units are placed, four radio-transparent casings of various shapes are installed in front, inside of which there are directional antennas, the battery is mounted on the side.
The weight of the gun is 5,5 kg, the radius of action is declared at 3 km. In January of this year, the fighters of the PMC "Wagner" discovered such a completely new complex at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Soledar, from where the Ukrainian military fled.
