Apparently, the Russian military, with the help of intelligence drone discovered armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine moving along one of the roads, after which the data was transferred to the destination, which made it possible to fire an accurate shot from an ATGM, as a result of which the Ukrainian MT-LB and the militants on its armor were destroyed.

As part of the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian military personnel are actively using anti-tank missile systems of all currently relevant types, including Shturm-S self-propelled guns, which, despite their venerable half a century of age, still fully comply with the current tasks of the special operation and are capable of inflicting significant damage to enemy military equipment.

The Shturm-S complex is equipped with optical means that provide guidance for anti-tank missiles in all ranges of operating ranges. In one of the latest modernization projects, tools have also appeared that allow you to detect and hit enemy equipment, regardless of the time of day.

Missiles "Kokon" and "Ataka", designed to attack ground and low-speed air targets at a distance of up to 5-6 km, are capable of hitting a target due to the zone of maximum range of destruction of enemy armored vehicles.

For what "purpose"? The use of ATGMs implies visual visibility of the target. Judging by the video, the shot was to the right, behind the MTLB, there was a thin forest plantation that they drove through (and there was some kind of explosion before that).
