Lavrov: In the absence of changes, Moscow will proceed from the fact that the grain deal is no longer functioning
Discussions around the deal on the export of Ukrainian grain, concluded in June last year between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by Turkey and the UN, continue. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the terms of the agreement are either violated or not fulfilled.
Once again, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, spoke about the expediency for Russia of maintaining the grain deal. According to him, if the situation around this agreement does not change for the better, Moscow will consider that it is no longer functioning. The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that so far he does not see any prospects indicating possible progress in the implementation of the grain deal.
- said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
One of the points of the Black Sea grain agreement concerned, among other things, that Russia could freely sell its agricultural products and fertilizers. However, Moscow is dissatisfied with the fact that for almost a year the agreement has been implemented only in the part that is beneficial to the West and Kyiv - the export of Ukrainian grain.
Recall that the deal was extended until July 17. Its further extension will be a big question if the next statements from the series “we will extend for another two months, but now certainly for the last time” do not follow.
