Polish Foreign Ministry: Zelensky is obliged to take responsibility for the Volyn massacre

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is obliged to take responsibility for the Volyn massacre. He is obliged to apologize to the Polish people for the monstrous atrocities committed by Ukrainian nationalists during the Second World War.
This was stated by the official representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry Lukasz Jasina in an interview with the Polish edition of Onet.
The diplomat believes that Kyiv should follow the example of official Warsaw, which recognized the crimes committed in the past by the Polish authorities against the Ukrainian people.
The Poles took upon themselves the Polish responsibility for the crimes committed by our state against the Ukrainians
Yasina notes.
According to the official, the Kyiv authorities lack such responsibility. But such steps have a very positive effect on the relationship between states and peoples.
The diplomat noted that Kyiv and Warsaw have many common themes. And the Volyn massacre is nowhere near as important to Ukrainians as other more pressing issues. But they must understand that recognition by Ukraine of its guilt for the Volyn massacre at the highest level is a matter of principle, although 80 years have passed since those events. The representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry believes that the Ukrainian side lacks an understanding of the importance of this problem.
The Volyn massacre was organized by Ukrainian nationalists on the territory of Volhynia in 1942-1943. Then they killed about a hundred thousand ethnic Poles.
