Le Figaro: More and more people in France are starving

It is no secret that Europe today is going through hard times in the economic sphere, and the anti-Russian position of the European Union has become one of the main reasons for this.

Economic recession and inflation have gripped many European countries. France is no exception. As the popular French newspaper Le Figaro notes, today the economic situation in the country is so deplorable that many French people do not even have enough money for food. According to the publication, 16 percent of people in France are starving, and among the French under the age of 40, this figure reaches 25 percent.

Le Figaro writes that food prices in France rose by almost 16% over the year. For Europe, this is an unprecedented (in recent years) figure. People are increasingly forced to limit themselves, and if this trend continues, then some residents simply will not be able to feed themselves, the newspaper notes.

The newspaper compares the standard of living of the French today and in 2016 and writes about the changes for the worse. So, if in 2016 50% of French residents could afford to buy any desired products, now this figure is about 33%. According to shop owners, such products as, for example, meat and fish, have risen in price so much that demand for them has fallen by 40 percent.

Let's be honest. If people have financial problems and they spend less on food, then this is not hunger yet .. They have not seen real hunger ..

        They're starving, mlyn...
Hunger is when there is nothing to eat.
And instead of black caviar, they have to put butter on a sandwich, and immediately "hunger".
I once read a published diary of a Czech housewife from World War II: "Hard times, instead of fresh meat you have to buy frozen."
        These Europeans are pissed off.

This is what they eat. The problem is truffles and black caviar.

        Strange ...
We have imposed a moratorium on sturgeons, but, judging by oil and gas, Europe should not be allowed to die without caviar - they need it more.
And truffles ... Have their pigs died out or truffles will not be born?

        And anyway...
As a student in Astrakhan, he was in a construction team. There was an enameled bucket of black caviar in my life. Then they regretted that they had given a box of stew for him to the locals (see "White Sun of the Desert" laughing). They didn’t manage to eat up - they got tired.
Since then, I don’t understand much difference between sturgeon caviar and pike caviar. There is, of course, but not as much as the difference in price.
And just do I think that salty black caviar with champagne (especially semi-sweet) is a purely Western taste perversion.

And yes - I never ate frogs and snails even in France. They are nasty, I can't get over myself. I'm better than beef, buckwheat, pearl barley ...

For you, it will probably be a revelation that there are sturgeon farms in the world. So here they are. Israel is considered the largest exporter of black caviar.

            There will be no revelation.
But when I was in America, I heard how Americans, regardless of the real origin of black caviar, sell "caviar from Russia" and buy it too. Approximately as we have a "copier" - it is a "copier". Regardless of any "Samsungs" and other "Hewlettpackards".
By the way, if I don’t confuse anything, they also have some of the sturgeons in Alaska. I’m not exactly sure, I’m fond of zoology at the level of a school textbook.

They are usually hungry. When you have to fumble through the garbage dumps so as not to die. Hunger is the scourge of capitalism. If there are not a significant number of hungry people who cannot be hidden, the rest will cease to be submissive, and there will be much less effort at work. Without hunger, capitalism is generally impossible.
Hunger is not very visible from the tourist routes. And when you learned for free to be a highly qualified pro, and then came to France on the salary of such a pro, it is also easy to ignore the hungry. But that doesn't mean they don't exist...

For a long time did not pay attention to our hungry? We have fewer of them, of course. But strictly because once they were denied access to heat. To heating mains, entrances, basements. And Grandfather Frost "cleans up the accounts" every winter. I advise you to remember only that life is an unstable thing. And anyone can get into everything. Then you will understand what hunger is, and to what extent it is...

Now it’s funny to remember how the whole platoon caught live flies for him ...lol Neighbors twisted their fingers at the temples - they thought that we collectively, with the whole platoon, went crazy from the heat. lol

We used to feed herring, animals ... now there is no such thing.

As a child, I liked F. Mowat's book "The Dog That Didn't Want to Be Just a Dog". There is an episode with an emigrant from Russia - I don’t even know what to call it ... Ukraine didn’t exist then, but I don’t remember what they were called in the book. In general, from where Ukraine is today (it takes place in Canada).
On the territory of this, let's call him a Ukrainian, there was some kind of puddle with commercially useless fish - perishable and tasteless. So he came up with it, on the sly from the neighbors, to keep a trade secret, to feed the pigs. They grew from that fish like bamboo, only the meat tasted like fish. Therefore, he took pork for sale to a distant town so that his secret would not be burned.

I have not seen cattle fed with fish (grandmother's pet cats and dogs in childhood do not count). The only thing - once in the 90s I tried "Bush legs" - my mother bought it, and I cooked it. There was a distinct smell of fish there.
I don’t know if there was fish there or something else (some kind of antibiotic could well give such a taste), but I didn’t risk eating these “Bush legs” anymore.

Feeding cattle with fish, it was a long time ago ... I don’t even remember that, but my grandmother said for sure that I had to do this, not from a good life, of course ... anything happened, but a long time ago.
And so, it was the Volga herring that we began to eat very late ... this fish has always been considered weedy, like dushman (silver carp)! While there were many other fish, no one considered him a fish! But alas, in 1979, a great flood washed away the Zmeevochka ravine, where there were ponds with the gene fund of the fish farm, and they filled the entire floodplain! Before that, we didn't even know him.

There are dacha societies nearby, every autumn a couple of cats come and ... my wife loves cats, so there are always a lot of them. And in the "big family" not up to centimeters, they eat everything and always! Although a couple of favorites, loved ones, can beg for something tastier.

We just buy something else rarely, we have a season of local fish, prices have fallen noticeably ... in the market, from fishermen, there is a lot of it, they will let them go home. In general, the fish season, until the heat comes.

It is no secret that Europe today is going through hard times in the economic sphere, and the anti-Russian position of the European Union has become one of the main reasons for this.

"According to the publication, 16% of the French die of hunger, and among the French under the age of 40 this figure rises to 25%." I do not know if this nonsense is related to the translation? I am a Frenchwoman with a tiny pension ... And from there "starve"!? I just spent some time in an African country where the salary of the most modest would not allow them to fill the "basket" at the local crossroads ... They are probably hungrier than the average Frenchman, in the light of your figures in this country, this would give: 50% or 80 % of these Africans are dying of hunger "!? It's true that food prices have risen by more than 16%, and some products by more than 30% ... But to write such nonsense from there ... This discredits the author and the site :-(

More people in France are starving

Starving Africa and starving France are two big differences. No need to worry about France, because the really hungry don’t produce so much garbage, and they usually don’t have enough strength for riots and protests.
On the other hand, I somehow do not see crowds of French people leaving France in search of a better life. The French newspaper is cunning, and our journalists just need to pick up the bad news, even if this news is from the category of philosophical reasoning!
