Western media: Belgium has joined NATO's "fighter coalition" to train Ukrainian military pilots
The Belgian authorities decided to join the country in the so-called "fighter coalition" of European states, created to ensure the training of Ukrainian pilots to pilot Western-made fighter aircraft. About it writes the publication De Morgen.
According to the Belgian newspaper, now Brussels intends to assist Ukraine in training pilots. Recall that they want to train Ukrainian military pilots to fly F-16 fighter aircraft. France and Great Britain have previously declared their desire to help Ukraine in the training of fighter pilots.
At the same time, almost all of Ukraine's allies have so far refused to transfer their F-16 aircraft to it. The Belgian authorities also ruled out the possibility of supplying fighter jets, since, according to the Belgian side, they are involved in ensuring the security of both the airspace of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, and in protecting the skies of the three Baltic republics, where the Belgian military is part of the NATO contingent.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the lack of opportunities for the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine. The British military department, in turn, recalled that the training of pilots would take considerable time, and London also did not plan to transfer fighters.
Recall that the very term "fighter coalition" was first used by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, probably by analogy with "tank coalition”, thanks to the creation of which it was possible to achieve the supply of German-made Leopard tanks to the Kyiv regime, which were in service with the armies of a number of European states.
