The United States decided to write off the boats of the Mark VI project only six years after the construction of the first of them

The United States has decided to decommission its Mark VI patrol boats. Currently, 9 out of 12 warships of this type are stored at the Colonna shipyard, located in Norfolk, Virginia. The last 3 boats Mk VI since last summer are in storage with the ship repair company Fairlead Integrated.

It is worth noting that this project was launched by SAFE Boats International, an American manufacturer of boats and boats, between 2015 and 2017. These boats were intended for the needs of the US Navy.

Even 2 years earlier, the US Navy confirmed the information that they want to decommission all 12 Mk VI patrol boats. Despite the fact that the "oldest" of them was only 6 years old, it was decided to decommission it ahead of schedule.

The idea to create the Mk VI platform was designed to replace obsolete US Navy boats (MK V and Sea Ark.97).

The length of this type of patrol boat is about 25 m, the maximum speed is about 35 knots, and the displacement is 65 tons. This boat is designed for 10 people, including 2 crew members and 8 paratroopers. Its main tasks include ensuring the security of ports, maritime infrastructure, along with supporting the operations of the main forces of the US Navy.

Recall that information about the receipt by Kiev of patrol boats of this project as part of a package of military assistance from Washington first leaked to the media space at the beginning of 2020. Three years later, Naval News announced the delivery of the first of 3 MK VI patrol boats ordered for the Ukrainian Navy.

On January 24, 2023, the Port of Tacoma released a video of the transfer of the first completed boat hull to the SAFE Boats facility.

As I understand it, they have an admiral for each whaleboat. Well, to the edge - according to the vice admiral.

Crane trucks are directly seasoned, at least 50 tons (empty VM) to overload with a "phone" is cool.

Such a decommissioned ship will cost under a million, and how much its delivery will be. It may be cheaper to cut

Such a decommissioned ship will cost under a million,

Earlier, the US State Department approved a Ukrainian request for the purchase of 16 Mark VI patrol boats under the FMS - Foreign Military Sale program. The total cost of the acquisition, together with weapons, will be about $600 million. https://topwar.ru/173230-mid-ukrainy-shest-katerov-mark-vi-strana-poluchit-besplatno.html
US boat builder SAFE Boats International has received a contract to build two additional Mark VI boats for the Ukrainian Navy. The construction of the boats was ordered by the Pentagon, follows from a message on the website of the US Department of Defense. According to the documents, the cost of each boat will be $25 https://topwar.ru/556-pentagon-zakazal-stroitelstvo-dvuh-dopolnitelnyh-katerov-mark-vi-dlja-vms-ukrainy.html
the bill will include everything + training, etc. taking into account the criticism in the states themselves that we spend too much, there will hardly be "charity" here

The article does not reveal the main reason for the decommissioning of these boats:
The U.S. Navy plans to decommission and decommission the Mark VI patrol boats - which Ukraine intends to buy - due to high maintenance costs, small size and weak power.
