German Defense Minister named the number of Leopard tanks planned to be sent to Ukraine
Ukraine hopes in vain for the supply of large quantities tanks Western production, the resources of the allies of the Kyiv regime are limited. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
Ukraine is already receiving German-made Leopard tanks and will receive more in the future, but one should not expect that there will be many of them. According to the German minister, Kyiv will receive two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks and four battalions of Leopard 1 tanks in total, plus ammunition, maintenance, etc. Neither Germany nor its allies are capable of more, no matter how much Zelensky pleads.
Pistorius said.
To date, Germany has delivered 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine, "overfulfilling" the plan, as it promised only fourteen. Sending armored vehicles to Ukraine deprived the Bundeswehr of a significant number of serviceable tanks, now Berlin is looking for an opportunity to rectify the situation by purchasing equipment from other countries, in particular from Switzerland. The German Ministry of Defense sent an official letter to Bern with a request to sell decommissioned Swiss Leopard 2A4 tanks in the amount of 96 units. But the Czech Republic, which has decided to rearm, also claims these tanks. Moreover, both Berlin and Prague swear that Swiss tanks will not get into Ukraine.
Meanwhile, according to Ukrainian sources, the West requires Kyiv not to send the delivered tanks to the front, at least at first. The sponsors of the regime fear that the delivered armored vehicles will be destroyed without showing their "effectiveness" on the battlefield.
