Ukraine will soon receive Mi-24 attack helicopters, North Macedonia has officially confirmed its readiness to transfer rotorcraft to Kyiv. The Macedonian press writes about this with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
North Macedonia will supply Ukraine with 12 Mi-24 attack helicopters, the final decision on this was made at a government meeting last Wednesday, March 29. Prior to this, only preliminary statements were made, in particular by the Minister of Defense Slavyansky Petrovskaya, but they were not official.
- says the website of the government of North Macedonia.
There is no information on the delivery time yet, so it is not known when the helicopters will reach Ukraine, but Skopje is being rushed in Kyiv, wanting to get them as soon as possible. It is known that out of 12 helicopters, four or six, according to different data, have been modernized with the participation of the Israeli company Elbit Systems, they have been adapted for interaction with NATO. The helicopters received new avionics, Aviators night vision system, navigation system and infrared lighting.
It is noteworthy that North Macedonia bought these helicopters in 2001 from Ukraine, which was selling military equipment left over from the Soviet Union. Now Kyiv is trying to get back its own helicopters by sending Skopje an official request for their delivery.
