The German Chancellor upset the representative of Ukraine with a forecast on the timing of the end of the conflict
The fighting in Ukraine could continue for another two or even four years. Such deadlines for the end of the conflict were announced today by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking at a conference organized by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
As the head of the German government noted, the German authorities and other Western countries will do everything possible to support the Kiev regime for as long as it takes. But if the hostilities drag on for four years, this will become a serious challenge for Germany, the Chancellor stressed.
Scholz's words made a negative impression on Andriy Melnyk, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, who spoke after the head of the German government. As you know, Melnik has a long and difficult relationship with Scholz. Even when he was ambassador to Germany, he called the chancellor "an offended liverwurst."
But now Melnyk was angered by the too long terms of the conflict, announced by the Chancellor. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine said that Kyiv does not want to put up with such prospects for conflict and is counting on peace this year if the West increases its support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Melnik noted that Ukraine does not want to fight with Russia for a long time because of heavy losses. He again called on the West to transfer more weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, primarily Tanks Western-made and ammunition for artillery.
The reaction of the Ukrainian official is quite natural. During the four years of confrontation with Russia, there will simply be nothing left of Ukraine: a population that is combat-ready and does not resist being drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be “ground up” in the conflict, after which the Russian armed forces will simply occupy its entire territory.
