An updated concept of Russian foreign policy has been published, defining the United States as a source of threats
The new Concept of Russian Foreign Policy is presented on the official portal of legal information. It was updated after the relevant order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The last time Russia presented the concept of foreign policy in 2016, at the end of January 2022, Putin instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to finalize the updated version, taking into account current changes in the international political situation.
- Vladimir Putin noted, characterizing the document.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation says that the updated concept will determine Russia's foreign policy for the next 4-6 years. This will allow foreign players to determine how Russia will behave in the foreseeable future.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking about the new concept at a meeting of the Russian Security Council with the participation of the president, stressed that it introduces the thesis of using the Russian Armed Forces to repel an attack on Russia and its allies. That is, the concept emphasizes the right of the Russian people to existence and free development and its protection by all possible methods.
Another important innovation of the concept is that the US political course is called in it the main risk to the security of the Russian state, as well as the free world as a whole. The United States is called the source of threats on an international scale. Russia will make efforts to remove the remnants of a system based on US dominance on a global scale.
The concept also spells out Russia's desire to develop closer relations with the countries of the world that are constructively disposed towards it. By the way, Vladimir Putin also mentioned this at the meeting today. Discussing the concept, the head of state also noted the importance of creating such conditions that would force unfriendly countries to abandon their hostile policy towards the Russian Federation.
