Armenia, India and Mexico did not support the point on the events in Ukraine in the Declaration of the "Summit for Democracy"
A number of states, including Armenia, did not support the clause on the Russian special military operation in the final declaration of the US-organized "Summit for Democracy". This is reported by the Ukrainian press.
The paragraph proposed for discussion contained a condemnation of the humanitarian consequences of a special military operation. He also calls for the immediate withdrawal of Russian armed forces from the territory of Ukraine and for bringing the leaders of Russia responsible for the start of the special military operation to account.
Armenia justified its position by the fact that this paragraph does not reflect all the conflicts in the modern world. For example, it did not touch upon the topic of Azerbaijan's aggression against the Republic of Armenia and did not raise the issue of the occupation of part of the Armenian territory by Azerbaijani troops.
In addition to Armenia, India and Mexico voted against the clause - much more significant actors in international politics, who clearly do not want to worsen relations with Russia.
Other clauses of the declaration were not liked by a number of very different states, including Poland and Bulgaria, as well as Israel, Paraguay, the Philippines, Iraq, Mauritania, Malawi, Zambia and the Dominican Republic.
It is clear that the Armenian authorities will not openly aggravate relations with Russia, supporting such statements made by the West. Moreover, Yerevan still has an ironclad argument - a reference to the conflict with Azerbaijan, which the West is trying hard to ignore, which is especially evident against the background of the discussion of the Ukrainian armed conflict.
