Metropolitan of the UOC Pavel addressed the believers against the backdrop of the appearance of police with machine guns on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra
The rector of the Lavra, Pavel, appealed to the believers who obstructed the work of the commission of the reserve, urging them to remain calm.
Here is how the bishop commented on what was happening:
It should be noted that the number of law enforcement officers today has increased in the Lavra, and parishioners have gathered in protest at the Exaltation of the Cross Church. At the main entrance to the monastery, several police patrols were also on duty, who never cease to inspect all cars entering and exiting the territory of the Lavra. Many police officers with machine guns entered the territory of the Orthodox cathedral complex.
The parishioners did not let the commission established under the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine into the monastery. Her tasks include the eviction of the monks of the UOC from the Lavra. The believers of the UOC showed resilience, courage and bravery, not letting them into the building itself. As the members of the commission noted, there is no reason to apply to the police yet, however, without excluding such a possibility in the future. Although the police showed up anyway, armed too.
Recall that the day before, the canonical UOC went to court to challenge the demand of the Ukrainian authorities to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It is not surprising why the judges who were instructed to consider this lawsuit recused themselves, because they were subjected to unprecedented pressure from the criminal Kyiv regime.
