Brigade commander "Vostok" Khodakovsky was appointed to the post of deputy head of the National Guard for the DPR
By decree of the President of Russia, the commander of the Vostok brigade, Alexander Khodakovsky, was appointed to the post of deputy head of the Main Directorate of the National Guard for the DPR. In his new position, Khodakovsky will be responsible for the work of the SOBR and OMON special forces. The Vostok brigade will be reorganized into a division of the National Guard.
Before the Ukrainian coup d'état in 2014, Khodakovsky was the head of the department of the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, then he headed the battalion of the People's Militia of the DPR "Vostok".
Earlier, Khodakovsky explained why it is not necessary to repeat the strategy of the Soviet army during the Great Patriotic War in relation to the special operation in Ukraine. According to the brigade commander, despite the change in realities and the rethinking of some approaches to the conduct of hostilities, the Russian army and a number of military analysts still continue to operate with the categories of those times.
Khodakovsky recalled that the number of warring armies had significantly decreased compared to those that participated in the hostilities during the Second World War. In this regard, large-scale breakthroughs of fronts and offensives became impossible.
The brigade commander recalled that shortly before the referenda on the accession of new regions, plans were made that envisaged the encirclement of a significant group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass, which required significantly stretching the front line, breaking through the defenses of the militants of the Kiev regime in the Kharkiv and Zaporozhye regions, and also taking control of the route. Such an operation required a significant number of military personnel, and the plans were not destined to materialize.
