Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, assures that the authorities will not forcibly evict the clergy of the UOC from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

This monastery is the property of the state, which should be vacated in accordance with the current regulations. If someone thinks that he will be able to ignore the laws of our country, then in this case he is greatly mistaken. It is they who believe that they are not obliged to leave the Lavra, since they continue to hope for the support of external forces in this matter, but I want to assure you that any provocations by the FSB on the territory of the national Kiev-Pechersk historical and cultural reserve will be immediately stopped. So, there is no talk of any forced displacement of them, because they themselves will gradually leave it

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky has already been criticized because of the scandalous decision of the Ukrainian authorities to evict the monks of the UOC from the Lavra. So, the abbot of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan of the UOC Pavel (Lebed) threatened that God would not forgive such an act either to the leader of the Kyiv regime or to his family. Moreover, the metropolitan severely reproached the current head of the Ukrainian state for the fact that it was his fault that the delegation of the UOC was denied admission.

It is worth noting that Zelensky explained his “noble” act by “strengthening the spiritual independence of the state”, which allegedly was subjected to religious manipulation by Moscow for hundreds of years. They lie, as always. We don't break any laws. We asked them to wait 1,5 months, we were even ready to leave the Lavra, but now the constitution comes into effect. We don't break anything. It is depressing that this Danilov speaks on behalf of the entire state and people, but he is definitely not all the people.
