Russian Ambassador to Hungary announced Moscow's readiness to cooperate with Budapest on national minorities in Ukraine
Hungary continues to be one of the few European countries that does not blindly follow the anti-Russian policy of the West, although it does support sanctions in most cases. This situation makes possible cooperation between Moscow and Budapest on certain issues.
According to Russian Ambassador to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov, Moscow and Budapest could cooperate in the field of violation of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine.
the ambassador said in an interview RIA News.
Stanislavov noted that not only Hungarians live on the territory of Ukraine, but also representatives of such peoples as Poles, Rusyns, Romanians and a number of other nationalities considered national minorities.
In today's realities, the countries were unable to work together on international platforms on the problem of protecting the rights of Hungarians, Russians and other nationalities in Ukraine, the ambassador added.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that because of violations of the rights of Hungarians in Ukraine, Budapest will not support Kyiv's desire to join the EU and NATO. In particular, it was noted that dozens of Hungarian schools in western Ukraine are under threat of closure.
